Pick your favorite problem child/underachiever/trade bait and give your thoughts on how they might react to Coach Nolan.

Steve Ott- I think that the life was slowly being sucked out of him, and that Teddy will help give it back. I know that a lot of folks see him as being traded off, but I think there is a very good chance of him staying to lead this team's culture change. Do you think that he is Teddy's kind of player?

Tyler Myers- He's just a big kid. He needs support, and encouragement. I think Rolston & Ruff were too contained for him to connect with (which may be why he seemed to gravitate to Stafford). Now he's got Hank back to lean on and maybe Nolan is more like one of his Juniors coaches. Myers will improve.

Miller- I think that if all goes perfectly, and the locker room becomes a fun place & the team competes in front of him, he *might* be able to be talked in to staying. Might.

Stafford- Beats the hell out of me. I can't even remember his rookie year. I'm throwing my hands up with him.

Leino- He will gradually improve as the Team improves. By the end of the season he will be what we hoped he would be.

John Scott- He will stick around because I bet Teddy likes him. Hopefully his basic hockey skills will be worked on & will improve. He's a role player, and should be used as such.

Kaleta- Now here's a tricky one. I want him to stay in Rochester for a while. He needs the time to let his reputation cool off a bit while he works on his skills. He probably will move back to Buffalo too quickly though. He needs to channel his aggression better. I think he's been having anger issues because the Team has been so down at heart. With an upswing in the heart department Pat shouldn't feel like he needs to do everything in his power to stir things up. If he can make it back to Buffalo he will flourish under Ted.

Grigorenko- He needs to be sent to Rochester as soon as he's able (assuming he *can* be sent there). He needs to get up to speed with the big boys.

Girgensons- He's staying. I bet Ted likes him.

Zadarov- He needs time in Rochester (if eligible).

Cody Hodgson- He will enjoy Ted.

I think that's slightly bullshit. Kaleta's an NHL player, and AHL-time isn't doing anything for him other than allowing him to feel like he can stickhandle around something. That being said, I'm not sure if Kaleta fits anything other than a 4th-line role.

Kaleta is a fine PK player. The only bad thing about him is his aggression and dumb decisions. If he gets suspended again, I could see him done for.

Zadorov and Grigorenko can't go to the AHL. Grigs can go next year, and Zadorov the year after. It's either the NHL or Juniors for them. And I don't think there is anything wrong with Zadorov's game right now. He will probably play more under Nolan. I have a feeling Grigs will play with better linemates under Nolan also.

You know who else had lots of talent, but didn't work hard at all for it? Nikita Filatov. Same shit, different day. We're on our third coach who doesn't think he's giving enough effort. If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

I simply don't have the optimism you guys have over Grigorenko. I think he was rushed and he's in way over his head. The only thing I'd like to see is him get some power play time.

The difference in this is, Nikita wanted to play in Russia, Grigorenko doesn't.

Has Nolan said anything about him not giving enough effort?

And the kid was rushed, the thing with him is, he's way too good to be playing juniors and not quite good enough for the NHL, you're basically stuck with him. Let him practice under Nolan and see what he thinks of the kid.

Yeah, I've sort of fallen back on the whole Grigorenko thing. I suppose I'd feel better about him if he had some AHL time. I don't know.

See with Griogrenko I've seen him try, and his recent two goal game shows how good he can be... He needs good line mates, a decent amount of playing time, and the coach needs to be patient.
