How is it the Sabres fault really? They are trying to get him playing time to help him right now.

It's too bad he can't just go to Rochester.

Well it's the Sabres fault that they created a situation where they can't send him anywhere to play hockey. They should have sent him back to juniors last year and maybe this year as well, maybe the situation wouldn't be as bad right now or he would be good enough to earn a spot on the worst team in the league.

I bet they could have checked with the league if it would be allowed to send him to Rochester for conditioning. Sending him there and being rejected has to be tough for the kid and just looks a bit stupid on the Sabres part.

Pretty much this. They botched the entire thing from the start because they panicked from having absolutely nothing up the middle. It's a complete joke how they've handled the entire thing.

They actually only had 5 games last year to decide. His 6th game triggered the start of the contract. Still, those 5 games should have been enough to show us he wasn't ready.

The NHL blocked Grigorenko going down to the AHL.

EDIT: Already discussed. Fuck me.

So, do we loan Grigorenko overseas then?

According to the President of the CHL, "there's a spot for him."

That's good. At least he'll be playing 20+ minutes a night again. Then next year let him see some time in the AHL, and recall him if he's tearing that up.

I watched these two and Armia last night.

Risto looks big, isn't afraid to hit, and has some great skill/puckhandling with a great shot. But, he looked like he hesitated too much last night and when he didn't know what to do he'd try to just go from blueline to blueline and stickhandle through defenders (which he did pretty successfully).

Larsson isn't afraid to get dirty, hit, and fight for the puck. He's pretty good in the offensize zone too. He just made a few mistakes that looked as though he just didn't have chemistry built yet with his teammates, and was just getting used to the AHL game again.

Armia shows flashes of being very good. I can see him spending at least a full year, maybe two in the AHL to work on his game. He cans stickhandle very well, has pretty good vision, and showed a willingness to create plays. He has a really good shot too. He looked a bit uncomfortable out there though. He made a few bad mistakes and turnovers while trying to do too much and needs to work on the smaller details of his game too. He actually had a few good defensive plays, which surprised me. He's not too big on fighting for the puck in the corners, but will do it if needed. He looks like he needs to fill out his frame a bit too. I'm excited about him and seeing him develop. Cassidy seemed to play him a lot in the first half of the game, then as they lost the lead he relied on some of the more veteran guys to get back in it.

I'm excited for these three guys in the Sabres organization.
