At least Darcy could make trades.

Have never heard of Tim Murray. The special assistant thing is kind of funny. Did they have an office left and thought, let's call it special assistant.

I like both of the hires. Patrick is a real smart hockey guy and Murray is a no BS, aggressive GM.

I'm real interested to see what moves he makes.

I like the hire. Murray has been around for building some pretty notable franchises. Good at evaluating young talent and drafting from what I hear. Which is very good for us. We have a good development building process in Buffalo that just needs some more talent around. I expect Millsie gone fairly soon. Certainly after the Olympic break. Moulson stays, Ennis gets offered a deal, and I think we part ways with otter at the deadline(Goose type deal)

Sounds like Murray is going to drop Nolan's interim tag..

I hope not. Nolan is pretty loved in this town and you cannot deny that he has turned things around from the way the team played under Rolston. On another note, the Sabres have a truckload of draft picks this year. I hope Murray's reputation as being good with the draft is true

There's a difference between being loved for the legend and loved for the job you're doing now. Nolan is doing his best, and he's certainly gotten the most out of the team, but he isn't a fit for today's NHL. He's still enamored with playing guys that simply work hard (Scott, D'Agostini) and fit his philosophy, which in most respects, works, but not in this one.

Talent and hard work can coincide.

He's making our talented players work harder though.

Somewhat. With Ennis, there's been a night and day change. Same with Myers. I'm still a bit worried about Grigorenko, but being sent back down to the Q is what's best for him at this point of his career. Leino is still a bum, doesn't work hard, and he just doesn't seem all that talented anymore. The fact of the matter remains that Nolan still seems to prefer the hard workers that don't seem to have talent.

Leino is always working hard, he just sucks.

I agree Mike, I love his game lately.

The second Murray does something the general internet populace doesn't like, THAT is coming out. Part of me wants to see it. :p
