$1.5 for one year, then $2.5 for the second year

Well, that isn't so bad. The first year at 1.5 makes me very happy.

yes it does, and hopefully he has a great season to make it a huge bargain and worth the price tag for next year.

$2.5 mil the second year?

But, really, $2 mil cap hit isn't bad. Still, I shall spend Stafford's contract waiting for it to end, unless he goes through a bit of change this season.

For real, it averages to $2 mil with a $2 mil cap hit...I can't really complain, especially if he produces at the level he ought to be able to.

For me, it's still all about waiting for Kassian. That kid is gonna be dynamite.

I can only assume he was waiting to see if there any interest after during the summer. Obviously there wasn't much going on.

That's why I'm happy with this deal, Mike. It gives him another cheap year and, if his development goes as it should, a bargain on his uber-breakout year. If he doesn't break out, we dump him off and bring up Kassian as long as he's ready (which he friggin ought to be).

Its a great deal cap hit wise, its nice to have a player sign that mid level type of contract entering the career stage that Stafford is entering into now.

In today's Nhl, with the inflated contracts that it has, 2 mil cap hit a year is a steal for Stafford.

Time to grow up, Drew.
