Here's what I'm seeing...

Gerbe plays well with Roy and Mac

Pommers plays pretty well with Connolly

Vanek is pretty decent with Kennedy and Grier

Kaleta is good with Goose and Ellis/Mair

Is Stafford expendable? I think so

here is what I'm kind of thinking.

Trade Stafford and 2nd to Dallas for a player like Steve Ott and possibly a mid round pick (3rd or 4th) Ott is a tough gritty forward who works the boards and drives the puck to the net.

Or

Trade Stafford and 3rd to the Oilers for Pouliot, good sized center with decent faceoffs, and would allow Connolly to move to a wing full time

Or

Stafford, 1st this year, 3rd this year, 1st next year, and Weber to FLA for Nathan Horton, same deal as with Pouliot, move Connolly to a wing, let Horton center him and Pommers, this is more less a dream, but I think Florida would be willing to move Horton getting 2 1sts, an NHL player, an NHL ready defender, and an addition pick this year. They are in the process of rebuilding.

Stafford had a terrible game last night, and has been mediocre at best all season long. Last season he had a brief hot streak in mid season that gave him decent end-of-year stats, but other than that it's been nothing but disappointment. He's interchangeable with Mancari as far as I'm concerned.

If we could get Horton for Stafford + picks then heck yes.

I'm afraid Staff is kind of expendable.

To be perfectly honest, I'd kind of rather have Steve Ott, he's very solid all around, while he may not score more than 50 points a season, he reminds me of a smaller version of Goose. Hits hard, works hard, has that contagious work ethic.

Honestly, I would take Horton over Ott. We have enough grit as it is, and Horton would bring even more. Plus he's at a PPG right now with 31, he has more goals than anyone on this team now with 12, and is a +7 overall. Hell, he even got himself a hattie last night. I would trade Staff, Weber, and a pick for him in a heartbeat. Plus we'd have him for 4 more years at 4 million a season.

We definetly need some more depth at center, especially with Timmy on the team not taking faceoffs and his injury problems. I wouldn't mind trading Stafford for a decent center. The options you put up seem pretty decent and best-case scenarios. Then again, i wouldn't be pissed if we kept Stafford either.

If your going to trade Stafford, this team doesn't need more grit, it needs goal scorers and consistent ones at that. Horton, Yea, I would take him, but not for what you put on the table.

Stafford + 1st this year + 3rd this year and 1 prospect (Ennis and Gragnani would be the only 2 I would have off limits.)

In which case you don't get Nathan Horton...you need to give quite a bit to get a guy like Horton.

I know other teams will be willing to part with 2 roster players, and 2 or 3 picks/prospects to get a player like him. He's a slightly lesser version of Getzlaf.

I don't think other GM's value Stafford as much as we do, but we could always point to Max!
