oi. most sabres fans only want to have players who can't play hockey , but "check it out"

Bergeron is at the tail-end of his career, has lost his "legs" and makes many mistakes.

I don't see the appeal.

You're aware that we have 8 defensive men right?

Rivet
Lydman
Hank
Myers
Butler
Sekera
Montador
Paetsch

How does M.A. Bergeron help us? And why waste another .750M in cap on a player that really isn't any better than what we already have?

Bergeron?

If we could do that, sure. But it would take more than that.

We don't need any more D men, we need offensive talent. We have Grags and Weber waiting as it is, they won't wait long. Paetsch, Lydman, Butler and a couple of prospect defensive players can be moved in package deal trades, along with a couple of our top 6. We could land a couple of really well rounded offensively skilled players and possibly make a real run at the cup.

But I would not even consider bringing in another D man no matter who it is. We are well established in that department I would think.

And someone wants Mancari why? He's not gotten picked up on waivers in the past; why would someone want to give something up for him?

As for Bergeron, he is decent on the pp; but offers little otherwise.

And he's been great offensively for Montreal, too. They're going to play him as a forward and use him as a PP specialist because he's too valuable to take him out of the lineup.

He would be great on the PP but that is about it.

we need another forward that can put up goals cause right now our only top six forward that can do that is vanek and he is not up to what he usually is. we either need a guy to feed vanek or another guy that can put up numbers. the way i see it right now is we are stuck with the pominville and hecht, overpaid contracts, and they are not top six forwards. i really like the idea of trading for lecavalier, or as the sabres are probably going to do, hope that one of the guys they have drafted step up and become that offensive force next to vanek. unfortunately i see that pominville contract biting us in the ass.

as for hank he really seems to have stepped up his game with the young myers playing with him. as we are ikely to lose either him of lydman at the end of this season, i'd think give tallinder a front heavy contract, say starting around 2.5 then say for long enough till we have to resign myers at which point we need the cap space. though i wouldn't mind seeing one of those franzen like deals with myers.

What I'd really like to see...
Pomminville + pick or prospect to Montreal for Halak and Gill
Halak + Tallinder to Philly for Carter

Hal Gill is completely useless, unless he plays with other good d-men like he did with Pittsburgh.
