John Buccigross was talking with Nick Mendola and was stating that Buffalo doesn't really need to upgrade. But could see Marek Zidlicky as a fit here. And probably could get away with trading a pick and lower prospect for him as a rental. Good offensive d-man...thoughts there?

yeah, but how does that work though? I mean, the Sabres wouldn't be on the book for all of that.

193 days in the season, so however many days are left in the season is what we're on the hook for a player with an expiring contract. Say there is 60 days left after the deadline.

3,500,000 divided by 193 equals 18134.72 per day.

18134.72 times 60 days equals 1,088,082.90

The cap we'd be responsible for is roughly 1.1M. which we can fit under our current cap.

...ummm. Salaries are calulated pro rata, by remaining games in the regular-season.

After today, 41 games remaining (exactly half the season remaining) multiplied by the remaining single-season contract of $3.5 mil, equals $1.75 mil - If he were acquired tomorrow.

As of March 3, 2010 at 3:00 PM (EST) - The trade deadline - The Sabres would have 21 games remaining. Ergo: 21/82 X $3.5 mil = $896,341.46

:D

...don't know that I'd want him, though.

Either way, he fits, I thought it was done on a per daily basis, but I could be wrong. Most of the cap figures I've seen are 193 days; in a season; cap hit based on that. (nhl numbers) so thats what I went on.

He put up some good numbers in Nashville for a couple of years. I assume that was before the emergence of Shea Weber and Ryan Suter.

I love this guy. I watched him play a couple times and I was very pleased with what I saw.

He could be an interesting addition if we let Hank and Loods walk
