So I'm sitting around today, and I'm thinking, Kovalchuk, where is Kovalchuk goin?

Why not NYR?

Ohhh yeah that 7M dollar Drury contract...but wait...Drury is playing a 3rd and 4th line role with them...is it possible that they buy him out this summer? Save the cap space and go after Kovie?

I wouldn't put it past the Rangers, they've got deep pockets.

If so, would it be worth signing him to a 2 year 2.5-3M per year contract?

I'm a huge Drury fan, so I could be thinking way outside the box, but does this situation seem possible to anyone else? Especially if the Rangers miss the playoffs this year?

If the rangers buy him out, he no longer has a $7M contract. :)

I love the idea. I'm a big Drury fan, as well. We need his leadership and he knows the system.

If the Rags buy him out, there is no way I would say no to Chris Drury coming back. This new incarnation of the Lindy Ruff System would suit Drury greatly, and we all remember how fantastic he and Grier played together.

Drury doesn't want to be in Buffalo.
Screw that.

I'm a fan of Chris Drury's play, and he leads by example, but I am with Cross on this one - he is living out his dream - let him keep living it!!

Center is probably the deepest position on the team. Unless Roy gets sent off in a trade (a good trade) there wouldn't be any room for Drury. We have Ennis and Gerbe coming up too, and one of those guys will probably end up playing center as well.

I wouldn't mind the return of Roy-Drury-Grier.

Yeah, some of our centers can easily move to wing. Connolly, Roy, Goose. If you take Drury's contract out of the equation, I have no qualms about him returning.

I'm sure its eating at him internally that he'll never have the years in New York that he did in Buffalo.

I would LOVE to have Drury back. He would be an excellent asset and Captain for the team. I know the players would respect him and want to play their best beside him.

We offered to match any contract he received. He went to the Rangers.

I'd rather not have him back.

he wanted to stay, but the allure of playing for the team he loved growing up was better. its not a bad thing. and things havnt gone well since he got there. id almost guess he wishes he was back in buffalo.
