"...Schultz is respected around the NHL, but with four more years at $3.6 million annually, it won't be easy to trade him.

The Wild might have to seriously consider trading Burns, but only if the price back includes significant pieces like that long-coveted center or top-six winger..."

I don't suppose any package with Stafford + pick/prospect could get Brent Burns. Roy or Connolly would work, but then we'd need another top two center, and I highly doubt one would be available at a manageable price.

Ideas???

Stafford + 3rd from Atlanta would probably do it. He's coming off two injury riddled seasons, and a year where he was a -15 on a pretty decent Minnesota team...question I ask is...how much better is he than what we already have in our system?

I'd do Stafford + a 3rd for Burns. Burns has great potential and if he could get back to that 43 pt season he had before his concussion I think that'd be a steal. After that season I remember a great deal of talk saying he'd be a future Norris winner someday.

Burns has missed chunks of the past two season with concussions.......

At $3.55M against the cap the next two years, he would be a guy that would slide into one of the salary slots opened up by letting Tallinder & Lydman walk.

But, he's another RH shot and the Sabres have Myers, Montador, & Rivet under contract for next season as RH D.

I would do Stafford + 3rd in a heartbeat. I'd even do Stafford + a Portland defenseman not named Mike Weber.

But, my guess is that wouldn't be enough for Minnesota to pull the trigger.

And as far as other guys on the Wild, I'd love it if the Sabres could pry Mikko Koivu out of there, but that isn't happening.
