Now that is interesting. Fuck if they'll pay $3 million for Leopold, why not Souray for cheaper. You could only play him during power plays and he'd probably be worth the expense just to feed him pucks to shoot from the point.

He's not on re-entry waivers.

Oilers have zero interest in eating half of Souray's contract via re-entry waivers. They want to lose his full contract on normal waivers.

I would be mildly interested at 1/2 price.

Full price - No Fing way.

Yeah, if Edmonton is willing to eat half of that Salary there will be a lot of folks interested.

I dont know, like I've said elsewhere, we have the cap space, and no "pressing" contracts coming up over the next few years, it's probably worth it for us to take a shot.

LOL Phil!

Anyway, I'd only take him at 2.7 if he was still out there at the end of the summer and nothing else had been done. I doubt all those factors will play out though.

There's some linkadation.

I would sign the FUCK out of some Sheldon Souray. His shot is pure lightning in a bottle and he's gonna nut up in front of his own net, aint no dogs shitting on his lawn. And he will throw down if the feeling it right.

Thing is, he will probably get snatched up before the Sabres turn to claim him. AND he can't stay healthy.

The Sabres would have to pay the entire salary for him - all $5.4M. And he's more fragile than Timmy if TC were actually made of fine China.

Except Timmy C turns the puck over.

Then again, an injured Timmy C leads to this picture.

Sheldon Souray for the unavailable re-entry cost of $2.7M? A great contract for a PP QB and tough customer.

Sheldon Souray for the current cost of $5.4M? Who in their right fucking mind would take that. Good christ.

X-Pen, you've got the wrong idea about Souray. He's going through waivers for a reason. He won't get picked up at all for 5.4 mil, let alone by the Sabres.

It's because his injury-prone seasons in Edmonton coupled with his public discontent after the signing (which he GLADLY talked up the summer it happened) wore out his stay there and management is sick of him taking up cap space. No GM is gonna take someone just as fragile as Connolly for $500K more.

He's also not a very good skater and can get beaten too often because of that. Given his age I wouldn't expect him to start playing 80 games a season all of a sudden. He might be worth it at 2.7 mil though, but I doubt he ever goes through re-entry waivers.
