Savard? Another Connolly, but with 100% more biting!
Kaberle? Burke's never gonna trade him cuz he wants too much
Souray? Just say no to the pylon
Kovalchuk? What are you fucking insane

I would prefer to snag Wheeler from the B's. A guy with that much size and skill would def help out our first line

Wheeler doesn't play big.

I'm pretty sure Drew Stafford has averaged more hits/82 games played over the past two years and he plays too soft for my liking!

I'd love to have Bill Guerin on this team. He can show Stafford what routes to take.

Drew isn't a terrible player... he just needs to learn his positioning. He seems lost out there, despite having the raw skills and size to be a good NHL forward.

Laziness isn't being lost.

And NHL.com's stats page has the answer! Last two seasons like you said, and I'll calculate how many they'd have if they both played 164 games.
Stafford, D: 149 hits
Wheeler, B: 121 hits (he actually did play all 82 games in 09/10, for the record)

So, your theory was indeed correct.

So what I'm getting form you guys is that Stafford is better than Wheeler. He just needs to be taught the error of his ways - how to play the fast paced game of hockey.

Sounds like Grier needs some wing men in his quest to re-make the Sabres.

IDK how Savard got dumped out of this conversation. I'd love to have him.

Cuz he's exactly like Connolly - shifty, great hands and vision, concussion problems, and a ridiculous salary.

He doesn't suck in the playoffs though.

I dunno, he's got one more point in five less games. That's it.

It's more like Wheeler is a more expensive version of Stafford and is unlikely to be a slam dunk upgrade.

It is possible that the change of scenery could help Wheeler. But, I don't think it's a slam dunk that Wheeler would come here and be the power forward with skill that some might expect him to be.
