With all the big deals pending around the league the Sabres could really benefit. In order for some teams to make the desired moves, they will need to move some of their current salary. The Sabres could be in a position to get a player like Sharp or one of the young Kings players for a decent deal. I have to believe something is brewing...Thoughts?

Well eklund definitely backs you up. Two posts from today (whether you want to believe it one bit is your choice)

"On Patrick Sharp...

The Bruins, Leafs, and Sabres are now in the rumor mill...It feels as though Sharp will be moved, while Niemi will stay in Chicago...However, as I have been saying for some time now, the Hawks have interest in Turco...as an insurance policy."

- http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/K ... uk/1/29325

"* The Buffalo Sabres are in on a potential big deal as well with the LA Kings or NJ Devils...They may play a big part in teams clearing space. I also could see them getting in on Filatov as well."

- http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/S ... ss/1/29334

I also think the Sabres aren't officially done however, how big their future doings will be remains undetermined

Eklund just killed any hope we may have had, then.

Hey! I like to believe him to give myself some hope... if we can grab sharp and maybe a player or two from the kings or devils I'll be happy

3.1% of the time Eklund will give you what you seek.

The rest of the time he's just blowing smoke up your ass. Stop going to the guy's website. You give him traffic which he can use to charge his advertisers. You're putting money in his pocket every time you look at his drivel.

Use this instead. It's just as accurate.

Connolly to Penguins? (e4)
According to my sources within the Buffalo Sabres organization, the Pittsburgh Penguins are willing to part with C Evgeni Malkin, D Sergei Gonchar and a rusty zamboni to obtain the services of C Tim Connolly. Remember, you heard it here first!

I would like to see a really shrewd trade happen, that will put the team over the hump.

Eklund has the same sources a lot of the other bigger hockey rumor bloggers do. Eklund will just tell you EVERYTHING he hears, while other sites actually wait for a better indication of things to come. He feeds off the hope of people, he's even said it himself.

Right now a lot of teams' plans are on hold because of the Kovalchuk situation. Once that debacle is over a few teams will have to start going to plan Bs and Cs, and there will be a little domino effect.

I think you're right. I wouldn't mind seeing one player in particular from LA come to Buffalo.....( no its not the obvious Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar wild dream either)

Ehhhhh just my opinion, but I don't think that's the case at all. I just think he's a hack. But, that's me :P
