I think you're right. I wouldn't mind seeing one player in particular from LA come to Buffalo.....( no its not the obvious Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar wild dream either)

Just curious, who ya talkin bout, Willis?

If I had to guess, Williams or Davis Drewiske, only guys on that roster I could really see moved for a reasonable price

Well, Justin Williams is making $3.5M and I dunno if he's worth whatever the Sabres would give up. He, like everyone, has inflated stats from 05/06 and 06/07 but otherwise he's only scored 40 points once and besides that hasn't scored more than 30 in a season.

Edit: Also, Drewiske is a defenseman. So yea, that ain't happenin'

I didn't say I advocated the move, but those are really the only two guys we could package for;

I.E.

Stafford and a 3rd for Williams

Sekera and a 2nd for Drewiske

We really don't have anything to package in a trade given the roster we have; knowing Darcy doesn't trade prospects.

Oh I know, I'm just stating the counter-point to the idea.

Eklund has no legitimate sources. None.

He trolls hockey forums for ideas and reposts them as something he got from an 'insider'. HFBoards has caught him doing this on more than one occasion, although last I checked they still consider him 'media' and allow him to post things there that other users get banned for.

I love how every legitimate thread discussing trade ideas/theories turns into an Eklund-bashing thread. In the opening post, there was no fucking mention of Eklund but immediately the topic turns to that thus killing any validity of the thread itself.

Look at the second post, boyo. This thread is bashing Eklund because someone cited his "sources" to back up your theory.

Well, please don't take this the wrong way, but you proposed two ideas that Hacklund posted THE SAME DAY. Perchance did you read them there and then post here? It makes perfect sense that someone would connect what you said to what Hacklund wrote.

If you repeat the guy's hackery, intentional or not, the thread will turn. Kinda hard to prevent that.

There's plenty of theories and ideas being discussed in the Trades / Acquisitions forum that don't involve Hacklund's junk, and have lively discussion. Maybe you'll want to check them out.

We should have a rule. No taking Eklund's ideas. He needs to be right one time.

The rumor generator is fun.

Miller to Rangers? (e1)

According to my sources within the Buffalo Sabres organization, the New York Rangers are willing to part with D Wade Redden and G Henrik Lundqvist to obtain the services of G Ryan Miller. Remember, you heard it here first!

Another point on why nobody is being signed. Players arbitration haven't been handed down yet, so teams with limited space (everyone but LA, COL, NYI, etc) are waiting on those deals to sign any UFAs.

It's not like teams like Buffalo don't want to be active. It's that simply now isnt the time to get active. Once teams see what their actual arbitration deals, and cap numbers will be after those players are signed, I'd expect more deals to come.

Well, my statement was kind of deceptive. Word is they may be open to moving Thomas Hickey, their 4th overall pick in 2007. He projects as top pairing, puck moving, PP quarterback. They already have Doughty, Johnson and Teubert on the backend as far as prospects go. If they sign Kovy, they'll have big contracts coming up for Johnson and Doughty as well and some people think this would make Hickey expendable. If we could somehow pry this kid away from LA for a 1st and a prospect (Gerbe, Pysyk....pretty much anyone but Kassian or Ennis) I'd be all for it. We desperately need a player like Hickey in this system

His production isn't bad, but I'm curious as to why he only played 19 games in Manchester last season. Injuries?

How much is Smyth worth? I hope he's not locked up for 5 or 6 mill as I think he is.

Had to undergo shoulder surgery. He tried to play through it at first.
