Rolston isn't worth $5M, and that's what he's making for the next two seasons.

OH I didn't see this, I assumed he was UFA.

No thanks.

I almost posted a thread on this, but like Phil said, 5 mil is too much for a 20-20-40 player. I like that he is a vet winger with leadership and a heavy shot that can play the point on the PP. All of that would be a great fit, except at 2.5-3 mil...not 5 mil, and not for two seasons.

Well here was my figuring on it, We're going to have that 5M free in cap space; and I dont really see any "core" players leaving within the next 2 years; and when that 5M comes off the books, we can offer it to Tyler Myers, given that we can all almost assume that Grier, Rivet, Nieds, and Montador will all come off the books next year; not to mention the Connolly 4.5M will probably be off the books as well.

Thats a bout 10M right there, give or take; will we really miss 5M with guys like Kassian, Adam, Gragnani, Gerbe, and Ennis all ready to step in, or will be ready to step in at that point.

I understand your concerns, but our cap really isn't a major concern for us; given the depth we have in our minor system.

OK, Jay, I see where your mind is going with this and I can dig it. Can you re-do your lines for me with Stafford gone but Rolston and Ennis in?

It would make for interesting line combinations, but I truely believe Ennis is a LW/C and not a bonified center; but I could see something like this playing it's self out.

Vanek-Roy-Rolston
Ennis-Connolly-Pomminville
Hecht-Neids-Grier
McCormick-Gaustad-Kaleta
Gerbe/Conboy

Stafford is relieved of his responsibilites

OR!

Vanek-Ennis-Rolston
Roy-Connolly-Pomminville
Hecht-Neids-Kaleta
McCormick-Gaustad-Grier

Run a nice balance on our lines, And Rolston is a solid utility player that can play anywhere on the ice, so He's easily swappable into C, and moving Roy to RW on the 1st line, and Ennis into a 2nd line LW

Rolston gives us so many more options with our lines, it fits perfectly into Lindys magical line shuffling.

Also, Rolston can play any forward position well too. So if we need him at LW he can play it, same with Center, and RW.

OK, I'm pretty sure I'm on board the Rolston bandwagon.

I wanted to see Rolston when he was a FA a couple of years ago but not now, he is slowly becoming not as good as he once was.

It's funny how that works when you age past your prime.
