Sabres after Aaron Asham? Idk how reliable this guy is but from what i know he's been pretty decent this off-season.

Quote:
2 West Conf. teams in on Asham (Van, Edm) but he wants to stay in East; Tampa, Sabres, Panthers and a mystery team are on the top right now.

I clicked your link but it didn't work. Who's the guy?

Asham would play on the 4th line if he signed here. The bottom six would have to be:
Niedermayer-Goose-Grier
Asham-McCormick-Kaleta

So the fact that they have 5 players to put in the bottom 6 means they have enough 3rd and 4th liners? Math fail.

5 player or 6 players what ever I'd rather see a prolific goal scorer instead of more junk to play on the third/forth line. Also would Ellis be the 6 player so that would make 7 if Asham signed here, wouldn't it?

Ellis is UFA. There are only 5 bottom-6 type players signed to the Sabres - Niedermayer, Grier, Goose, McCormick, and Kaleta. Need to do your homework.

It too late to do homework plus its summer

I rather see Ellis come back though, he really impressed last year.

Here's how I figure the bottom 6 is gonna shake out, IMO:
1. Niedermayer-Goose-Grier, McCormick/XXX-XXX/McCormick-Kaleta
2. XXX-Niedermayer-Grier, McCormick-Goose-Kaleta

I'd imagine Asham would be signed if the Sabres walked from Kennedy and still sent Gerbe down. That would give them option 1, with the 4th line shaking out to be Asham-McCormick-Kaleta (great line of feisty middle weights and a heavyweight center). If the Sabres accept Kennedy's award, he'll (99% sure) fill in the 3rd line LW spot with Niedermayer and Grier as his linemates.

So basically, Asham will be a Plan B if the Sabres walk away from Kennedy. Which is hiiiiiighly unlikely.

I'm good with Asham coming here. He puts up decent enough numbers for a 4th/3rd liner. Go for it.

How much would he be worth though, like, a mill or so?

What I like about Asham is he's durable - he's only played less than 72 games once in his NHL career, and it was 63 games played that season. I think he'd fit right in with McCormick and Kaleta on the 4th line, both production and grit wise.

B&Y, he'd maybe be worth a mil, yea. He's had 20 and 24 points in his two seasons with Philly, and only earned $640K per. If I were Regier and the arbitrator awarded Kennedy something ridiculous, I'd offer Asham $850K a season for two season to play on the fourth line. If I had to come up, I'd go to $1M but only if he makes less than that during one of his two seasons.

Agreed, but that's the only way I sign him. If Kennedy gets a good deal, throw him at 3rd line LW and let his defensive game flourish.

I would sign Asham. He'd be a really good 4th liner.
