While Rivet may or may not miss the start of the season, the Islanders have placed Witt on unconditional waivers. Would you pick him up to fill in for Rivet?

He can take a car, he can take Rivet's spot.

I loved that story

I think if we dont sign him that says a lot for Darcy's confidence in Butler and Sekera to fill the void, if we do sign him, I think it indicates that one or both of them will not be in Buffalo after training camp.

He's not a UFA, he got put on waivers. Regardless, he wouldn't be terrible to pick up for depth.

And when he gets bought out, which is what the Islanders are going to do once he clears (which they assume he will), he'll be a UFA.

Honest to God, the lack of ability to read between the lines on these boards is getting unbelievable. At the risk of sounding like a complete asshole, I guess I thought I could skip a step and people would be onboard with me, however, since it's become ticky tac season on these boards, where everyone has to prove how smart they are, I guess I will just water down, and dumb up my posts with useless terminology.

Please do dumb it down for me. I was thinking, "Does this guy think I'm a fucking nuclear physicist or something? What the fuck is he talking about!?".

Woah! My bad. No need for the anger. I wasn't intending for my comment to sound like I thought I was smarter. Sorry dude.

I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot barge pole.

I'd love the guy to be honest. I really like Witt, sure he has some bone head hits and stuff, but I love his game. He's a hard hitter, pretty smart with the puck, and a guy who will stand up for his team any time. I think Lindy wouldn't have a problem getting through to the guy, and telling him to knock off his shit. And I think Rivet and Grier are veteran enough to tell the dude keep it in check as well.

I've always been a big fan of the dude, plays with heart, emotion, and on the edge of out of control.

He is 35, hasn't played a full 82 game season or even a 70 game season since 2006, his +/- has been terrible the last few years, has 21 points over the last 3 NHL seasons, and has had his contract bought out (which is never a sign of confidence for prospective teams). And he does really dumb things as my YouTube video link has shown.

No sireee, keep him away from Buffalo.
