With the signing of Mitchell in LA and Bieksa now most likely to stay with Vancouver as well as Kaberle's NTC kicking back in, would now be a good time to offer a serious package to San Jose to not only fill thier defensive need but maybe even a larger swap?
What I had in mind was the following:
To Buffalo
Joe Pavelski (4 mil x 4 seasons)
Ryan Clowe (3.625 mil x 3 seasons)
To San Jose
Tim Connolly (4.5 mil x 1 season, maybe a 2 year extension with this trade?)
Drew Stafford (1.9 mil x 1 season, let San Jose decided on him?)
Andrej Sekera (1 mil x 1 season, fills a defensive need [PMD] and good resigning?)
or
Chris Butler (850 thousand x 1 season, fills a defensive need [big, stay at home d man] and good resigning?)
Jhonas Enroth (867 thousand x 1, good young backup with starter potential?)
2011 1st round draft pick
Is the value there? Too much? Too little? Some tweaking? Thoughts.
Way too much heading Buffalo's way.
Pavelski and Clowe are both good players on affordable deals that are signed for a while.
So, you are giving them a center that is more expensive than Pavelski and a UFA next summer, a winger that is cheaper than Clowe, but not as productive, and Sekera, who wasn't a regular top 4 dman last year, makes up the difference?
SJ probably asks for Myers if Regier asks for Pavelski & Clowe as a package.
And the discussion ends there.
