Remaining free agents that could help the Sabres if the price is right.

Patrick O'Sullivan

Guy was supposed to be a can't miss prospect, but so far in the NHL has struggled on below average teams.

He has scored 20 goals in the NHL 1 time, but has been on some horrific teams, Edmonton, LA Kings. Even if you get typical O'Sullivan performance, you're going to get 35-40 points, and some solid two way play. I think at a price tag around 1.25-1.5M he'd be a nice addition to our roster.

Jonathan Cheechoo

Another guy that under performs to his talent level. Perhaps not the best guy to stick into a Lindy Ruff system, but the guy has scored 50+ goals once, and over 20 4 out of his 7 NHL seasons. If he'd take a 1M 1yr contract, he could become a talented RW, especially for some depth at a position we lack skill at already.

Bill Guerin

Strong, big body, nice 3rd to 4th line guy. Can still chip in a few goals, but is primarily a PK guy, and an energy guy at this point in his career.

Trying out with the Flyers in camp, but if he doesn't make the roster, could be had for a song.

Mike Comrie

What's there to say about Comrie, he's your average NHL forward. Not great, not bad, but always a solid player. Could add some excellent depth at Center, and brings some veteran experience as well.

Out of all of these guys, Cheechoo is the guy I see fitting in best, because he is a RW with 1st line talent, and AHL Brains. Playing with Roy and Vanek could make him look real smart again though. None of these guys are horrible options, but none of them are superstar scorers either.

What do you guys think, who and why?

Have fun with this, it's not meant to be a proposed pick up...for the love of God if what I said here had any influence on Darcy Regier; I'd question his ability to be a GM.

I would go with Comrie, because he's always been a Sabre killer (I think it's him?). He is also pretty much guaranteed 30-50 points playing a full season. His last 80 game season with the Coyotes, a bad team, he scored 60 points; 30 goals, 30 assists. He can do both score and pass. He's been on bad teams and yes, has a bad injury past I would assume looking at his GP.

His best team was with the Sens. He played 22 games and had 7 points. Put him on the Sabres, if he stays healthy, he could put up 60 points or more, but that's not likely. Healthy, he would probably put up 50 points. It is slightly a risk, but our team is already set, if he can put up a spot without getting injured, fine. If not, no big deal.

I don't trust Cheechoo either... The guy had 1 50 goal season. He's never been the same.

I'd go with Guerin, Comrie or Cheechoo.

I still think O'Sullivan's career can be salvaged. Too bad his dad was such a headcase, he would've gone top 5 instead of being irreparably damaged... Now we see why he ended up as a 2nd rounder.

For 1.5-2 over 1-2 years, I think he'd be worth having around.

idk, O'Sullivan kinda reminds me of a Drew Stafford type of player, all potential, all talk.

Wouldn't touch Cheechoo with a ten foot barge pole, anyone can be relatively good when they have a superstar pivot centre on the same line.

Out of all the guys even before Comrie signed I would maybe, and this a slight maybe, go with Guerin but that would create hell on the third line. I wish this team would go out and get a front line player

Cheechoo has been invited to camp by the Stars. Doesn't mean much, but I really don't see him fitting well with the Sabres.

Cheechoo looks like he is having a career thats going to lead up to his special on A&E's Intervention. 56 goals in one season then playing for the AHL for over 20 games? WTF happened to this guy? Does he not give a shit? Does He still have talent?
This guy used to be feared now he is junk. I wouldn't take a roll on this guy. He just seems like a liability.

Two words caused him to give a 50 goal season.

Jumbo Joe.

I would not touch Cheechoo with a 100000000 foot pole right now though even if he scored 50 goals in 05/06

O'Sullivan is set to sign a one-year, two-way deal with the Canes

Comrie signed in Pittsburgh too, so take him off the list.
