Commodore, defender 3.75M Cap hit, wants out of Columbus after being a healthy scratch this past week.

Rivet, Old man, comfortable in the press box, makes 3+M on the cap.

I dunno I think this could be a deal that benefits both teams, Buffalo moves out Rivet, and appoints a new captain, CBJ get rid of a distraction in their locker room. More or less just swapping trash, but the Sabres may be able to snag a later round pick along with Commodore.

I'd rather have Kalinin back than Commodore. I can't believe I just said this :?

Rivet : $3.5M
Commodore: $3.75M

Columbus wouldn't get rid of him for a $250,000 savings just to stick someone in the press box.

They waived him, probably tying to expose him to re-entry waivers and get off the hook for half his salary.

probably not, just kinda thought maybe we could get something back to get a distraction out of their locker room, and swap some veteran presence.

Now that he's on waivers this thread could go ahead and be deleted.

Now, Commmodore on re-entry waivers for half the price and a waived Rivet sounds might appealing to me.

Damn right it sounds appealing. You end up paying what, an extra 125k? I remember Commodore being an impact guy much more than Rivet.

Depends what you did with Rivet.

Taking Commodore on re-entry waivers means Buffalo takes on half his salary for the balance of the deal, $1.875M per. ( Columbus would be on the hook for the other half. ) If you waive Rivet, you still gotta pay him.

I read somewhere that moves have to be dollar for dollar only.

Therefore, picking up Commodore just isn't going to happen without trading somebody out.

Regier has said that's the Sabres policy right now. It's not a rule.

Oh that makes sense. I was wondering how teams ever moved players!
