Colorado is a seller and with Matt Duchene returning from injury they are heavy at center. Stastny is 25, under contract until the summer of 2014 with a 6.6 mil cap hit. He's a pt/gm legit #1 center. I'm not sure what position Colorado is looking to fill, but one rumor had LA in the mix offering Jack Johnson, Jarett Stoll, and Jonathan Bernier for Stastny, Galiardi, and a pick/prospect.

For just Stastny, I think Colorado would take Connolly (since he's a UFA they don't have to keep), Enroth or a d-man (I don't think we have any worth offering after Myers), and a first rd pick.

If there is a center under long term contract that can be acquired through trade, Stastny is one of the best options.

Stastny's father played for the Nordiques. I do not know if Paul wants to leave now.

Stastny was rumored the return player for Afinogenov and a high round pick two years ago.

His uncle Anton also played for the Nordiques, but that won't have anything to do with whether he stays or goes either. If the team wants to trade him, he'll be traded.

I'd send Connolly and Enroth for Stastny. Not huge on letting Enroth go, but for Statsny I'd be okay with it.

Yeah, but Paul's father Peter Stastny also played for the Nordiques.

Yeah, but Paul's other uncle Marian also played for the Nordiques.

It's going to take alot more than Connolly and Enroth for Statsny!

Connolly and Enroth for Stastny is an awful trade for Colorado. That's in the Sabres favor for sure.

We don't have the resources available to give up. It would take a LOT.

Didn't say that trade would work for them. Just said I'd be okay with it. :D

they want defense, and they're willing to give out point per game players for it. give them montador, or weber or something. and a pick. 1st round if it's montador, 2nd round if it's weber.

I'd be ok with Monte... NOT with Weber... I like Weber a LOT... him with ShaMo will be a GREAT pairing next year... Monte while I like is a F/A... I'd send a First and Monte for a first line C...

And we still have Timmy we can send packing for something...

Oh Lord.... guys, are you serious...? Montador and a 1st? Weber and a 2nd? That isn't even remotely close to getting Stastny. And the fact that some of you are rejecting it is ridiculous. I love Weber but I would trade ten Webers for one Stastny.

I'd trade away Weber, Montador, and a first for Statsny.

nope.

i think weber, monty and a 1st would be sort of reasonable, as long as we bank on getting a defenseman back via free agency. which i'm sure we will. i still don't think the avs would take that though.

I think we would have to have a better player than Weber be the centerpiece of the deal, is the problem. Weber is most likely a future solid, physical, strong #3 defenseman. Montador is having a career year, and at the moment he's a top 4 defenseman. A 1st would make it better. We'd still have to add in Adam, and maybe more, though.

Ill be the first one to tell ya I really dont have a clue when it comes to player value... BUT i do know we need a C... maybe 2! And I really like Weber and think a ShaMo/Weber pairing next year will be shut down! I'd be willing to send Sekera, Butler, Monte, heck even Leo before I send Weber packing... just my thoughts though... and I should stop talking trades... cause I simply don't know.... lol... I just like to banter... lol

Paul Stastny is the kind of center Vanek would thrive with. He's exactly what this team could use. Therefore, COL knows they can ask for a king's ransom if the Sabres come calling.

i'm refusing to do much research, but roy could be a tempting centrepiece with his miraculous contract. the avs also need some defensive defense prospects in their system, i think. stastny is a great asset for more important reasons than roy is, though. the intangibles. the olympic experience. the toothless hockey grin. it would take that king's ransom to pry him away no matter what team comes knocking.
