I posted before the compensation for signing RFAs. That was taken from the actual CBA. That was the original award, however it has changed each year. Here is the currently award chart:
$1-1.5m____a 3rd
$1.5-3m____a 2nd
$3-4.6m____a 1st and 3rd
$4.6-6.2m__a 1st, 2nd & 3rd
$6.2-7.7m__two 1sts, 2nd & 3rd
+$7.7m_____four 1sts

With the updated awards, would it be worth it to go this route to fill our needs. What if we offered Stamkos 7.5m? How about other centers like Dubinsky, Tyler Kennedy or Michael Grabner. What would you give up to get a dman like Doughty, Weber, Campoli or Luke Schenn? I knew the compensation changed each year, but I didn't realize this much. A lot of GMs don't like going after RFAs, but it is a part of the game. With a new owner anything is possible.

Here's a few more to consider:
Zach Parise
Andrew Ladder
Andrew Cogliano
Andre and Sergei Kostitsyn
Josh Bailey
Ryan Callahan
Keith Handle
Devin Setoguchi
Maxim LaPierre
Nicolas Bergfors
Tyler Bozak
Blake Wheeler

I know it'd be a lot to give up, but Shea Weber or Zach Parise really stand out to me. 2 of my favorite players, and I'd be willing to give up two 1sts, 2nd and a 3rd for them I think.

Most RFAs usually stay with their respective teams. Only very few become UFAs if arbitration fails.

On your list, adambuffalo, I like to see us go after Ryan Callahan, but that is wishful thinking. Zach Parise is possible, but the Devils need him as they rebuild.

At best, I would be willing to give up a 1st and 3rd.

Most of the time teams will match offer sheets unless they can't fit the contract under the cap or they value picks over keeping their player. That being said, I think Parise is one of the few players that fits this description. Sure, you could offer Stamkos 7.5 million or even 9 million, but I'd expect Tampa to match it in a second. Parise however is a different story. We all know the Devils are having some cap issues so we could easily offer Parise something the Devils couldn't match.

Now that I'm thinking about it, we wouldn't be able to do certain offers. You have to have your own picks in that year's draft and we don't have our 2nd.

Compensation would be for next season. We can't put a bid in until july 1 which is after this years draft.

I'm sure people will be interested in Parise, especially with a contract like Kovulchuk's on the Devils' books
