I was thinking about trades and what we could still do to improve the team. Obviously we can't take on salary, so the best option would be to trade with someone near the floor.
First I would go after Stastny. I was looking at Roy + someone for him. Ideally it would be Kotalik or Morrisonn. That would only add about $1m to the Avs salary. I think more realistically Pommers and Roy for Stats and a pick would work. This would be a $3m swing which would help both teams.
Ottawa would be next, with Spezza being the obvious target. Roy and Pommers wouldn't work, because that would only be a $500k swing. For this one, I add Morrisonn and Nick Foligno. Ottawa only has 6 d-man and it would be nice to have the Foligno bros together. This would be about a $3m swing.
Nashville wouldn't take as much to get Legwand. This could be something like Roy and Morrisonn. This again would be about a $3m swing and would give the Preds a 7th d-man.
Finally we go to the Isles and Tavares. I don't think they would trade him, but who knows what Garth would do over there on the isle. I would offer Roy and Kots. This would be about a $3.5m shift.
These are just a few ideas I thought I'd throw out there.

We don't really need to make any more moves, except getting rid of cap space, which all we would need to do is bury Kots and Morrison down into Rochester.

NYI is 10 mil below the cap floor. Trade Kotolik or Morrisonn to them for a draft pick.

So didn't we already conclude Stastny isn't going anywhere in the other 93 threads about him?

I would never want Nick Foligno. He is garbage.

He hasn't turned into the power scoring forward that he showed glimpses of, but he's a great checking winger that can chip in 15 a year. He sure as hell is better than Dennis Persson.

Well, Dennis Persson just signed a 1-year contract to likely play in Rochester next season, so maybe you should go speak with the Sabres' management.

So anyone here hear any trade rumors out there involving the Sabres? I believe we do still have to dump salary and IMO Darcy won't just put Kotalik down in Rochester. If the guy shows up at camp he'll be on the roster. Morrison is a hit or miss but if one of the two get traded I'd believe it wouould be him.

id rather keep morrisonn. hes a shit down d-man who had a bad year. he can still really play his own end well. but if you got too many d-men, then its a mute point.
