no wonder risto looks beyond his draft year. hes almost 19. he has almost a whole year of development on the other picks.

that bodes well him making the team this year. hes not as young as the draft year would seem.

I also think the lineup during the Columbus game is what takes the ice opening night.

As much as Zadorov has been great, he gets another year in Juniors.

And Girgesons makes this roster too.

I hate the fact that they already try to turn Girgenson into a winger. Why draft a good center if you won't develop him as a center. I'd rather see Girgenson in the AHL.

The Grigorenko situation is weird. Darcy said he won't be sent back to Juniors and apparently they can't send him to Rochester. Most people think his game wasn't good enough to make the team, but what can they do with him. I think Rolston's hands are tied, they have to play him.

I'm really pessimistc about this team. Foligno on the first line puts a lot of pressure on him. I really like the kid but he isn't a first liner.

FINALLY HOCKEY IS BACK!

Destroying the Red Wings would be a decent start :D

they were saying last year, girgs looked lost in rochester till they finally put him at C. then he was the best player on the team.

Watching Grigorenko, he looked fine out there this preseason.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

I don't think the red wings are built for what is mostly our old division. It's some gritty, rough shit every other day for the whole season. I could be wrong but their drafting may go a little differently.

Interesting point. I hadn't thought of that, but I think you may be right - at least I hope you're right!

wings are a puck possession team. when a hyper aggressive team like boston comes at em, they will feel the pain.

They seem to be more of a euro style of play which makes sense given the makeup of their roster. I really feel bad for the first time Boston takes a run at their goalie and/or core player. It will happen without a doubt and I don't know who on their roster is there to whip some ass I.E. John Scott, Foligno type players. Tampa is going to get tossed around real hard.

It looks like the opening night roster is set due to an injury to Marcus Foligno.

Here's my projected opening night line-up.

Vanek-Hodgson-Leino
Grigorenko-Ennis-Stafford
Girgensons-Larsson-Ott
Porter-McCormick- Kaleta
Reserve: Scott, Flynn

Ehrhoff-Myers
Tallinder-Pysyk
Ristolainen-Weber
McBain

Miller, Enroth

IR: Foligno, Zadorov, Armia

Eh, Armia is out for a few weeks, Zadorov too. IDK about Foligno. None of them are super long term.

Plus Zadarov is likely going back to junior, and Armia's probably Rochester-bound.

I heard armia was going to stay up. But hearsay. I haven't personally got to see him play in preseason

I mean, technically, he is. He's on IR. He has to stay up due to NHL rules.

I meant IR designation aside that he was going to stay up with the big club

I think the lockout was a big deterrent for some people posting last year. I have a feeling it will pick up this season. At least I hope so. The reason I started posting was the humor, intelligence, and overall friendly demeanor of the posters on here. Not a lot of fair weather bull posts. One good season and this place will be rocking again. We just need to get the word out.

How I found out was that someone asked on the original boards asking what happened to everyone and someone said they all moved over to this site. Not sure if people still talk about this board on the original or not. I will do it if it's allowed
