If anybody out of the state needs a stream, I highly suggest downloading VLC and using this tutorial to get high quality HD streams of any game this year. You don't have to worry about crap quality streams or viruses from crappy hosting sites. This is legit, and gets you out of paying for GCL.

I just checked the script, and it's legit. Won't run anything shady on you.

BUT, I'm be shocked if this works all season based on what it's doing. Nerd speak below.

You're actually watching the available feed directly from the CDN the NHL uses. I'm still trying to figure out how it bypasses authentication, or if this shit is actually wide open. If it is....

Wow, what a simple script. Thanks Vanek-Fanatic. I'm gonna try it. If it works it would be awesome.

I tried it last night, and if I remember correctly, it worked all last season, too. I found it on Reddit at /r/hockey.

I'm on reddit quite frequently but haven't seen it. Thanks. I'm wondering how it works though. I hope it won't get famous so the NHL doesn't shut it down.

Since it's loading the streams directly from the NHL's CDN, I doubt they would notice unless so many people use it it increases their traffic to a point that's obviously over their subscriber / historical numbers.

CDN's are, after all, built to serve static content to a ton of people all at once.

But why is it not protected? You dont't need to be a coding genius to write this script...I guess I should stop wondering and appreciate free NHL hockey.

Because you're not supposed to know about those IP's or URL's.
It's called security through obscurity...That works well enough until someone sniffs the network traffic or reverse engineers the GCL site. And I have to assume that's exactly what happened.

Now why they don't authenticate traffic from the client to the CDN...I have no idea.

I'm stuck at work until 10pm (Potato time, 9pm EST) so I'll be missing out on the first hour of the game but will be checking back during which.

SOmeone please keep me posted with how the kids are doing!

If we can't hang with them through the first period we may need to switch to smash them in the face style for the latter two periods. We got the guys to do some nasty checking. I see Girgy dropping boom-sticks all over the ice tonight.

Will post scoring on here not sure how often you check this webpage. If you have an alternative means of contact I could arrange to send the information that way. I will be watching the game at a local watering hole.

This VLC script really works. I get an error message but it works nonetheless great. That's awesome.

Horrible. We need some speed and better checking. These guys are just flying around and passing without any bodies around them

Not clearing the zone and a weak power play. I think I've seen this before.
