Hey Leino, why don't you just pass the puck blinding to a Detroit player in your own zone....Typical

We looked like a completely young team out there. They ran circles around us the whole game. Both of which I expected but hoped wouldn't happen.

At this rate, say bye bye to Vanek and Miller

Well nuts. :(
But they were improving as the game went on! i am somewhat encouraged- it was not as bad as we had feared. Don't know who we play next but I feel better about it. :)

I like Girgensons. He gets a free pass, as does Miller.

Rest of them? BAD.

Honestly, I don't think any sabres team over the last 3 seasons would have beat the Wings tonight. I thought we had some solid energy going after the Girgs' goal but, I mean... it's Detroit. If any team can choke off any kind of momentum, it's them.

Whatever, put it behind and move on.

I'm not as disappointed about this game as most of you guys are.

Our D played a pretty solid game, as you noticed, the only real big mistake on D was Risto's turnover for their second goal. Outside of that, they turned away many rebounds and blocked some good shots. Ehrhoff had the best play with him knocking that easy tap in out. There really wasn't anything too noticeable about them. Hardly any mention from them turning it over.

Miller played a very solid game too, seeing the puck very well. First goal was a tip and second he was screened badly, but a lot of the other shots and scoring chances he saw with ease and stopped them, and thankfully our D, as mentioned above, picked up the rebounds.

And our third line of rookies played the best. And they were rewarded for that goal. A close second was the first line. Can't wait until Foligno comes back to knock Stafford off that line. He is a much more physical presence and will tremendously help Vanek and Hodgson more. Vanek won't need to stay in front of the net as much and can exploit teams with passes more.

Our second line was invisible for most of the game. Some flashes from Ennis, but I don't even know who the LW is on that line. Never heard his name called once. During that game. If it was Ott, then he only played hard in the first five minutes. Outside of that, he was invisible out there.

And the 4th line didn't do anything to hurt us at all. Kaleta hit and that's good.

Saw people chirping Miller about both goals. Facepalmed.

My leash on Stafford is done with. Game one of a new season and THAT'S what you have.

Yeesh.

Trade stafford and eat some of the contract. I'll take whatever. Massage table, 6th rounder, toilet paper, free haircuts for the team

So, is it too late to buy out Stafford or is it still possible? I know it's unlikely they do it, but if they want a rebuild they have to get rid of Stafford and Leino with their horrible contracts.

Leino I'm willing to give until he gets injured. Stafford, I do want gone.

I think that the window for regular or compliance buyout ends, but I'd have to dig it up to be sure.

I'm willing to give Leino a little more rope based on his injuries and the fact that I'm at least seeing SOME effort from him. Stafford...I dunno. I see guys in pick up games show more fire.

Kinda drives me nuts seeing a half empty lower bowl in a place that has Hockeytown on the ice, opening night no less.

You're correct. It does end just before the free agency period starts.
