4-1. Buffalo wins it. Ennis, girgy, stafford, and foligno with goals. I am hoping Staff gets a shot of life from Nolan. If he doesn't work hard tonight then he cannot be fixed.

Weekend home-and-home against the Laughs. This could be big. A chance for this team to make a statement about themselves under the new management. I have my doubts about whether they'll do it, but I have some hope for the first time in a long while. Yoshi's Nietzche quote about hope is gone, but it's a pretty powerful poison for me right now.

Maybe I'll sound a bit too much like Don Cherry on this one, but I think we should totally goon it up this game, or at least send a loud and clear message to both the Leafs and the NHL. That pre-season Kessel dust up was an embarrassment for the league, letting that asshole run around and deliver 2 two-handed swings and one spear to the gut, and get NOTHING in terms of regular season punishment. From the standpoint of the Sabres, Kessel has an unpaid tab that needs to come due tonight. I would be much less gung-ho about advocating this thuggery if we were in any kind of contention, but we're not, obviously.

Lets see if we can win more than one game in a row.

Back behind an NHL bench for the first time in five-plus years, Nolan is already making things interesting with his new squad: He announced that hulking enforcer John Scott will play when the Sabres square off against the Maple Leafs on Friday night. You have to wonder if the Leafs will be looking for retribution against Scott, who went after their star player, Phil Kessel, during the preseason. One thing is for sure: David Clarkson can't be the sacrificial lamb this time around. After serving a 10-game suspension for the melee that ensued from the Scott-Kessel fiasco

Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!?!?!?

Well, Toronto has to be given every opportunity to even up the score, right? :icon-mrgreen:

I don't expect much to come from the pre-season brawl...I do expect the Sabres to play a better game than they have most of this season.

That said, I still don't think it'll be enough...they just aren't that good.

Let's be honest here. He went after him, but he "wasn't trying to hurt him."

Uh, Scott said he wasn't PLANNING on hurting him. When Kessel started talking shit and giving Scott the nudge, that made it grounds for a fight. Don't instigate an enforcer unless you're going to fight.

And why in the FACK are Grigorenko, Zadorov, and Larsson sitting again?

Nolan doesn’t seem to like the idea of keeping four teenagers on the roster.“We have to tread to our water smoothly here and see who can mentally sustain that type of pressure on a daily basis, and we’ll make some kind of adjustment,” Nolan said. “Because we send them down to junior or send them back to the minors, that doesn’t deflect what we think about them. It’s how we want them to be a year or two years from now.”Center Mikhail Grigorenko, one of those teenagers, was a spare player Thursday.

I read that as "The kids we can send down somewhere are going down and Kaleta will be back in Buffalo ASAP"

Okay this is an ESPN article so it's supposedly unbiased, but this is a perfect example of Leaf brainwashed idiocy. Black is white, and up is down, and bad is good if you're a Leafs fan. Let's face it, if Leafs fans were forced to be objective, and realize how deeply they have been fooling themselves for the last 45 years, they would probably all have a nervous breakdown.

It's a pointless piece of fluff, about as informative as announcing that leaves are green in the summertime.

But they never mentioned why the whole thing started to begin with. Like Kessel was completely innocent and we jumped him simply because he is a vastly superior player and there is no way we could beat them with him on the ice. we jumped him because he is a superstar? Yeah, that's it. This is how that blog comes across to me. Such bullshit. Leave out the part where he spears a player repeatedly with complete intent on injuring the other player. Scott was in the right.

I dare them to go after Scott. They don't have the stones for it.

I hate the Leafs with a fiery passion so this burns so much worse. If it were any other team I probably wouldn't give two squirts of piss about it.

At least they'll be able to play, lol.

Oh, and the only one on the Leafs that can take on Scott face up is probably Orr. Who only beat Scott after a lucky body punch, despite getting his face pounded.
