It still shocks me as to what the Isles were trying to accomplish with this.

On a jersey related note, The Hockey News is coming out with an edition of, "The Greatest Jerseys of all time". Here's a quote from the GHL.com blog...

"In 2008 The Hockey News came out with a brilliant special edition magazine The Greatest Masks of All Time. The beautiful periodical was a combined photo essay of all the great goalie masks over the years, coupled with in depth articles about the goalies. It was beautifully done.

THN is back in 2009 with a similar project called The Greatest Jerseys of All Time. Available on news stands on October 19th, 2009, this promises to be a must have for all hockey fans, and a great stocking stuffer idea for those shopping for a hockey fan.

The 170 page collector's magazine looks at the classics from hockey's earliest years, such as the Seattle Metropolitans on the cover, to all the modern designs and alternate jerseys of today's 30 NHL teams.

THN accessed the Hockey Hall of Fame's amazing 1600 archived jersey collection for the photo shoot. The magazine also tells many interesting stories about the sweaters and people who wore them."

You won't catch me saying these uniforms are ugly.

Image

This Michigan high school team wore pink jerseys, each of which had the name of a local breast cancer survivor or victim. The team captain wore his mom's name, who died of breast cancer.

They call it the Pink Arrow Project. They ended up raising $100,000 last year and carried on the tradition again this year.

Those are beautiful uniforms.

The SUNY Fredonia men's hockey team did something similar three years ago, and now Pink The Rink is a school tradition.

Picked it up last night. A real decent read and look at the history of the Sweater/Jersey, Woz.

They also have a top 10 ugly list and we're ranked #8th! lol Yes, someone else beat us out.

Top 10 are as followed:

10: Thrashers Baby Blues
9: Montreal throwback jail unis
8: Buffaslug
7: Nashvilles Mustard, puss, baby poop, vomit and urine colord 3rds
6: Islanders with the Fishstick dude
5: L.A. "Burger Kings"
4: Coyotes 3rds with the make shift green desert night backdrop and coyote head
3: Vancouvers Halloween colors with the "V" on the front.
2: Dallas's 3rd. The "Mooterus" (Taken from the front logo looking like the diagram of the female uterus, in a cows head)
1. Mighty Ducks 1995-96 3rds. Busting out of the ice. Note, it was only worn for 6 games before being trashed. The players hated wearing it, and refused to have pictures taken for the following years media guide while wearing it.

im not to surprised that we were 8th. yes, our logo sucks (but could be worse) but the overall jersey design isnt horrendous. nothing on it looks out of place or retarded (mighty ducks, BK logo) and nothing on it was out of the ordinary like the Halloween Canucks, ducks where there was not acutall logo on the jerseys. the numbers on the front were dumb but that kind of caught on with a couple other teams.

I love the Don Cherry jersey. They should do one with big pink cabbage roses.

That Admirals was an old Bob Uecker tribute jersey. Don't ask me why they wore it but they were auctioned off after the game for some reason or another.

Personally, I think that "barber pole" Canadiens' jersey is absolutely beautiful.

...I find it wonderfully simple and genuine.

just thought it was a little loud for hockey. plus the where's waldo comment. just honestly thought watching the game the uniform was out of place. just my opinion you are free to disagree.

i like the habs waldo jerseys too. it goes back the the early 1900s when hockey sweaters were more or less rugby sweaters. they are horribly loud and distracting but to me they're cool. same goes for the ottawa 67's.

Atleast they're really trying to give it a real retro feel with the all brown/tan leather hockey gloves. For that, I will give them props.
