Courtesy of Faceoff.com: Vermette signs extension with Blue Jackets "The Columbus Blue Jackets locked up Antoine Vermette on Tuesday, signing the veteran centreman to a five-year contract extension. The 27-year-old scored 16 goals and 25 assists in 79 games last season with the Blue Jackets and the Ottawa Senators. "We are pleased that Antoine has made this commitment to the Blue Jackets," Columbus general manager Scott Howson said in a statement. "His two-way game and versatility make him a good fit for our hockey club." ...$18.75 million, for five years...Guess they value him, quite a bit - That's almost $4 mil per year ($3.75 mil) |

He is solid on faceoffs, and is a reasonable player. However, considering the likelyhood of a shrinking salary cap next season, I think it's a bit of an overpayment. |
