Very sad. :( He faced his battle with cancer and his ultimate demise with such courage. May he rest in peace.

Patty reminded me so much of my own dad. It's weird because when he passed away, if it wasn't brain cancer that took his life, it would have been lung cancer, the same as Burns. Dad was also a big time Leafs fan in 93 when they went to the conference finals against the Kings. He hated Barry Melrose with a passion, lol.

Although I've never met Pat Burns, this passing is very familiar because of my dad. I can only hope that no one here ever needs to go through the hardships of losing a loved one to cancer. And if they have, my deepest condolences to them. :(

I remember when Pat Burns was originally - mistakenly - reported to be dead, he called Bob McKenzie at home and swore a blue streak up one wall and down another about everyone saying he was dead. It was too funny seeing Bob tweet what Pat was saying.

Pat Burns was a great hockey person. Having coaches the Devils to their third Stanley Cup championship in 2003, he served as a specialist within their organization with other championship coaches until his deceasement. Condolences and prayers to the Burns family.

I like Pat Burns, he was a good coach. I'll remember him as a good man who was good at his job.
