It all depends on how it broke also.
I mean if this is a compound fracture he would need a pin in his finger to keep it there, a simple break on the bone would be nothing, but if he broke a knuckle, good luck trying to bend the finger.
He broke his index finger, and if it is his holding the stick and he can't grip it right he is no better on the ice then off it. Take the IR and get someone who is going to be effective.
