Choice info here.

Quote:
A Republic analysis revealed that even if the Coyotes went to the Stanley Cup Finals for the next 20 seasons and the arena booked 30 sold-out concerts each year for the next 20 years, Glendale could still expect to lose about $9 million annually.

That figure does not include the city's annual arena debt payments, which will average about $12.6 million a year over the next 20 years.

I like the bit about how they want to raise property taxes and use that money for capital improvements on the arena but nothing new will be built and the arena will still lose the city money hand over fist.

I doubt the citizens of Glendale would swallow that pill.

I'm with you on this one Ed.

I don't mind some type of public support for sports teams when the municipality gains a tangible financial return on the investment. (Say what you will about the Bills, but sales taxes on tickets plus income taxes on NFL salaries is WAY more than they get in public dollars.)

This is just dumb. They're making up creative ways to tax just to try and fill budgetary holes. Even my liberal ass doesn't like it.

heh...this nonsense is well beyond politics.
Any thinking person can see this desert experiment has been an unmitigated disaster from almost every aspect.

But hey, it's a big market right?
