I'm watching the Sens/Pens and Karlsson just left the ice after a collision unable to put any weight on one leg. Looks like it could be bad.

Achilles cut.

Cooke's skate got him right in between the tendon guard.

And damn, there goes my leading fantasy D-man.

Karlsson is still leading defenseman in scoring in the finnish league.

The Sens are fucked!

I don't think there was any intent to injure by Cooke. He wasn't even looking at his skate when it happened. His head was turned to his right to look at the puck.

I know no one here said it was a dirty play, but apparently there are questions since Cooke is involved, and that's understandable.

It COULD'VE been dirty, but it also could have been accidental. Can't tell for sure, probably never will.

Just a really unfortunate injury. Sucks for Karlsson. I actually like the guy.

C'mon it's Cooke. He's guilty until proven innocent. You check someone into the boards while raising your foot and jamming it down. Where do you think it's going? Watch replays of checks into the boards and I bet you don't see similiar foot action. Since he can't knock opponents heads off any more, he has found a new way to get them out of the game. I hope it was all an innocent accident but I'm skeptical when Cooke is involved.

Karlsson is on my fantasy team but still, I don't see intent there. It was way too fast and shit happens.

I didn't even think about the fact that it was Cooke who did it until Neil went after him near the end of the game. Looking at the play with a blank slate, I just can't see how there could be intent to injure, especially any intent to target a specific area on Karlsson. Cooke locks up with him physically, then turns his head slightly to the right to watch the puck as he tried to get possession of it. It's his left skate that cuts Karlsson. Sorry, but even Gretzky's evil twin would have a tough time playing the puck on one side of his body while targeting the ankle of his opponent on the other side of his body AT THE SAME TIME.

We're only questioning whether it was intentional or not simply because Matt Cooke was involved.

This is a one in a million type of occurrence. I hate Matt Cooke as much as the next guy, but I'd have to give a guy a lot of credit for trying to pin his guy on the boards, play the puck, while not looking at Cooke's ankle for it to be intentional. Sorry. I don't buy it.

If you lift your leg up then slam it down it definitely CAN be intent to injure. It can also not be. Can't tell for sure either way.
