So it's done. Briere going on about how much he loves South Jersey, doesn't want to uproot, and that he still loves the Flyers organization. Being political?

Although buyouts run from 48 hours after the final ends until July 4, Philadelphia jumped the gun Thursday, announcing it planned to eat the final two seasons of former Sabres star Daniel Briere’s contract.

“I don’t think Danny was the same player he was with us, but I still think he’s a very capable NHL player and won’t have any problem finding employment because he can still play and contribute,” Regier said.

Would the Sabres be interested in the 35-year-old center?

“Let me think on that,” Regier said.

He'll get a contract. Way more then I'd give him at this point, but I'm sure a team gets him at the 2.5 million range.

Briere should coach teams on how to be in the right place around the net to put in the rebounds. Briere was uncanny in figuring out 2 or 3 hockey moves ahead and being there. He wasn't so great on defense tho.
