Well they said they wanted to suspend head hits. This was a head hit, blind side, and it hurt Toews. |

That's an extremely high traffic area. If you cut across the middle like that, you can't be expecting not to get clocked. It's pretty grey area, I think. |

Boychuk easily could've kept his arms down, lowered his shoulder, and laid a body check. But his hands hit the head, and blindsided him. Even though it's a high traffic area, it doesn't justify the hit. |

looked to me like toews was lowering his center at the same time. i don't think it's worth more than a penalty |

Lowering his center? Besides faintly bended knees, I don't see him putting himself in a vulnerable position. Boychuk could've easily avoided hitting him in the head. It's not like he was bending over. |

very few hits are inevitable. responsibility goes to both parties, because you can't just give the offense every bit of leeway there is |

Well if it's not inevitable, and he could've not hit the head, I don't see why he's not suspended. That's the only rule; don't hit dirty. He hit him in the head. |

The league said they were banning hits that target the head. Boychuk put his arms up and hit him in the head. Seems illegal to me. |

Again, coming across the middle, moving as quickly as these players do, that's a huge grey area for the NHL to mandate a suspension. With so many different things happening in front of the net, many different issues come into play. Besides, it looks more like his hands contact the shoulders and slide up a little bit. It doesn't really look like a direct hit to the head. |

Coming across the middle has little to do with it. I don't see why it would. It doesn't magically impede Boychuk's ability not to hit him in the head. Idk. Agree to disagree? |
