i was reading earlier (but lost it) that the NHL is discussing making OT 10 minutes long because no one likes shootouts. i personally miss the tie, so if they want to make OT longer and eliminate the shootout, im cool with that. anyways, anyone else heard anything? i cant find the tweet with the link

I like the pointsystem of the IIHF WC. 3 points for a regulation win 2 points for a win after OT/ SO (the nhl will keep it) 1 point for a OT/SO loss |

I dislike ties more than I dislike shootouts but I'd certainly rather the game was resolved during team play. I'd welcome something like -5 minutes 4 on 4 -5 minutes 3 on 3 - Shootout |

I can't see the NHLPA ever approving a 10-minute overtime. I don't want that either, personally. I saw something yesterday that said they are considering changing the 5-minute OT to 3 on 3. That could be fun. |

I think 3-3 could be fun but I've never seen it, so I'm not sure. I agree with the above posts that the NHL should go the IIHF way and make regulation wins 3 points, OT/SO wins 2 points and OT/SO loss 1 point. With this system teams would have incentive to go for the win in the 3rd period instead of securing the 1 point. |
