Last I knew lyrics didn't need to rhyme in songs... Or do they now?
when you are trying to write a catchy hook, yeah, its best to rhyme.
Well she's walking through the clouds With a circus mind that's running round Butterflies and zebras And moonbeams and fairy tales That's all she ever thinks about Riding with the wind. When I'm sad, she comes to me With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free It's alright she says it's alright Take anything you want from me, anything. Fly on little wing, Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing
You were saying something about rhyming again? This song doesn't rhyme, yet it's very catchy and a great song. An Hendrix was one of the most accomplished musicians.

look i know you want the award for "dumbest poster" and trust me, you are doing a hell of a great job trying to earn that title. but surely, even you can read those lyrics and see there is plenty of rhyming there.

Not sure your definition of rhyming, but really, there isn't. There is not a set pattern of rhyming at all in Little Wing. If you find one, let me know. Free and Me, seems like the only organized rhyming.
The Flame I feel a flame inside my heart today I hear it crying, pleading to be free And yet it must be hidden, locked away-- If let out, it would be the death of me. It started as an ember, barely there And then came forward, bursting into flame. I tried to tell myself I didn't care; It cooled a bit, but burned on just the same. And then some fuel was added to the fire-- Although how it was done I do not know-- And lest this flame become my funeral pyre It must be quenched, or simply cease to grow. For if I let it take me, oh! the pain, Because I know it will not die again.
No need for violence, just tell her she's got a game misconduct and show her the door.

very good. we have established that you can indeed identify a rhyme. now, that jimi hendrix song which is supposedly hook laden (ive never thought hendrix needed the gimmick of a hook, but i dont really listen to hendrix so there we are.) now, even though that song doesnt follow a specific formula of rhymes, weve established that there is indeed a series of rhymes. we will ignore the fact that nickleback songs tend to have lyrics written by a "rebellious" 7th grader, with the musical originality to match. heres the point. when you write songs as bad as them, its in your best interest to have a rhyming hook. which they struggled with that as well.
Alright, much better there Mike. I'm no way trying to defend Nickleback here. I was just saying good songs don't need rhymes to be good or catchy. I'm also not saying Nickleback has good songs. They are catchy because of the music industry at this point in our lives. It takes what is popular and kills it and overuses it.
Reel Big Fish said it best in this song.
Bands sell out to get popular, and if a recording agency wants you to do something.
And PSP, I'm not comparing Nickleback and Hendrix here, I had just used an example of a song that is amazing that didn't have a rhyming pattern to it that still sounds awesome.
