I'm pumped and pissed all at the same time. I need to get in shape...yes, but I'm not so I'm being a lazy and dreading lacing up my jogging shoes.

Today I need to do some sort of workout since I'm super busy tomorrow. I guess I need to go do a two-mile jog and check my time.

It's a two mile round trip from here to the beach. I wonder how long it will take before I can run that.

okay....ran for the first time in six years. Just did 1.5 miles in 17:09. I have no idea how good or bad that is. I know I used to crank that out in a lot less ten years ago. Fuck the stairs...I'm sleeping down here on the couch tonight.

I'd say that's good for someone who hasn't run in a while. You're still in better shape than 85%-90% of the country.

I ran two marathons in 2001 and then didn't run again until 2005 which was just a few spins around the track. So yup, aside from hiking and snow boarding I haven't used my lungs for anything but yelling at hockey games and smoking for close to 11 years.

ran again today. Hardest part is just lacing the sneakers up and getting out the door.

On my way out the door to play a pickup game that will make me draft eligible for the ball hockey league. I've been doing cardio training for almost two months to be ready.

Went pretty well, though my skill level is very low, I have a good foundation for the game and good positioning. I have to say the best part was all the props I got for wearing a Sabres jersey. Out of maybe 30-40 guys, there were 3 Sabres jerseys, and even more Buffalo fans. One of the six team captains is a Sabres fan as well, and I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up the last pick on that team.

Now, I go to Europe for the next two weeks. You guys will have to figuratively and literally do the heavy lifting in this thread until I come back. Train, say your prayers, and eat your vitamins.

I usually weight lift 3 days a week. If I'm not fucking sick like I've been getting over the last two months

So I've been running for a couple weeks now on this mile and a half trail. Got my time down to 15 minutes flat but most times I have been concentrating on just running. Been doing a lot of yard work and keeping busy. Yes not "technically" working out but for a guy who hasn't worked out in ten years it's pretty good. Added bonus: I'm in way better shape than I thought.

Go to a wrestling practice for UB. If you can do that for a week you can do any BT

Depending on your shape I would recommend that you start jogging now. I never did ROTC though. If you just get out and start running youll start building your stamina. That's the biggest problem I saw in boot camp and even with active duty people. Stamina is your core skill. From there you can add in your basics like pushups and situps. Try to job every other day. Start with a short distance if you have to, say a mile then you'll naturally be able to increase that over time.

By the way. My neighbor wanted to go on another run when he got back from work so I did a second mile and a half run. Did some butterflies and legs work when no got back to. I feel like I'm actually turning this ship around.
