The whole "pig" thing is old and stale, but that was pretty good. Creative and sneaky, I respect the effort.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

New decals will be made by Monday at a cost of $780. The expense will be covered by a surplus in the revolving fund that supports the offender work program, Pallito said.

State police Maj. Bill Sheets wasn't amused by the prank.

"While some may find humor in the decal modifications, the joke unfortunately comes at the expense of the taxpayers," he said Thursday.

Love how the guy makes a flat out lie here, "at the expense of the taxpayers". Ah no, the paragraph right before explains it comes from the SURPLUS generated from a business that pays inmates $.08/hour asswipe.

Eh...that surplus is still paid into/created by taxpayers.

Hm, i'm slightly bothered by the fact that they think this is such a greivous offense that they've got to have them remade. It's a tiny little pig form in the splotch of a cow. Who gives a fuck. Why spend 800 bucks to have them remade? Ego? I'm not a fan of my tax dollars going towards soothing the frail ego of these big bad gun weilding cops.

If they didn't tell the stupid media then no one would have ever been the wiser

You're assuming a bit aren't you? I'm a "big bad gun weilding cop" (not "big bad gun weilding" though) and my ego wasn't so frail as to prevent me from posting this and having a laugh. I don't know how it became well known enough to gain media attention, but if they chose to keep the decals, there would be a number of non-gov't officials that wouldn't be too pleased with their law enforcement rolling around town with a silly joke on their cars. Why jump to "cop ego" so quickly?

because I have a distinct dislike of the law enforcement officers i've encountered, and a pretty clear bias against them in general. I feel like we've discussed this before, but maybe not.
I do end up feeling bad for lumping you in with that association. To be honest, now that I think about it our infrequent conversational encounters are the best interaction i've had with a cop that I can think of, so....dont be offended?

Nah, not offended. I've had to work with a few that aggravated the crap out of me, and understood why some citizens got pissed about them. OTOH, I've been on the receiving end of attitude for no good reason a HELL of a lot more times. If only we could all walk in the other person's shoes a for a week...
