Hey everyone. I have a bunch of scrap wood and was thinking about building a frame for a net. I did some searching but everything is for pvc goals. Anyone have a link to plans for a timber framed one? I was thinking of adding to it, putting hinges on it so it's collapsible. Can't wait to play shitty hockey out on my cul-de-sac!

the plans for the goal should be fairly simple to work out without internet plans (as would a PVC one).

Yeah, 4x6, about 1.5 feet deep. Not that complicated. I built one out of PVC the other day, but I like your idea of having a hinge(s) so as to collapse it a bit. Oh, I suppose thats the bit you wanted plans for. And....nevermind.

Hahaha, no I don't need plans for the hinge or anything. I pretty much have a nice plan in my head but i have never attatched a net to a frame so i don't really know what i need to make sure I can get it on there. I'll have it built in two section basically. All made from wood, 1x4's where I can to save weight and 2x4's for the supports. The corssbar will have a huge in the middle and each side will have a hinge where it connects to the front so the sides will fold in then the whole thing will collapse in half so I can stick it away in the garage. How the hell does a net attach though? I don't want to get the whole thing made and find out I have to staple it to the wood or something.

on real nets the crossbar is covered in a sleeve that is then attached to the actual netting. on Sports Authority plastic nets the crossbars run through the holes in the net.

You can also get little clasps to attach the net to the base/posts. That's what came with the pvc-frame net I use. To go totally ghetto you could use bread ties.

Zip ties. Attach the net with zip ties. (Obviously, heavy duty ones. Alternatively, you could use carabiners or something similar)
