I know several people here are very tech savy and im looking for some help.

At work our website was built using Joomla. A couple months ago I upgraded it to 1.5.26 which the highest i could go without apparently migrating the whole site to 3.0. During the upgrade i took the site down. Afterwards a several components are out of place and i have no idea how to return them to their original position.

I created a back up before the upgrade using xclone (which was the recommended program by Joomla) but i cant find the FTP information to properly restore the site.

The website is www.artbyae.com

This is way over my head in terms of web design. I can do most of the front end design just fine, the back end stuff im lost and no matter how much i tell my bosses that i don't know joomla or the back end stuff they keep telling me to fix it.

Help me saberjunkie kenobi your my only hope.

So you have a backup but you can't figure out how to upload it to the server, or you made a backup and don't know how to access it?
Do you have any sort of test server or site where you can practice restoring the backup?

i created a back up but do now know how to access it. From what I saw online, i might be able to get things back to normal if I had the super administrative log in. Because I have no way to get that from Joomla or Network Solutions (our host) the Joomla forums said that i need MySQL to enter a piece of code to reset the password to the default, i guess?

When it comes to webdesign I know the basics (and can build in dreamweaver) and can, for the most part, figure out the slightly more complex stuff but when it comes to php, sql, and most other 3 letter programming combinations, i'm lost. My thought was that if I could upload the back up the site would go back to normal-ish.

I'm guessing you have some sort of virtual hosting from Network Solutions?
Do they give you any username or password for FTP etc?
It wouldn't necessarily have to be the root account on the server, just any account that has FTP access to your files and access to the mysql database.

Do you also not have the Joomla admin login? Because that's something different.

i do have the ftp username and password.

Joomla has several layers of access. the top, back-end, access is the super-administrator. This was set up but whoever created the actual site. The next level down is Administrator. This is the username/password that i have. I should be able to install the back up with just the Administrator login but i think that if i have Super-Administrator access i could fix the problems without having to install the back up.

Do you know who has that password? Any chance of getting it?
It seems like you're being asked to do a job without all the tools you need. :/

i have no idea who has that information. The website was built before i started working there, the designer was (as far as i know) selected by Network Solutions, and our account manager with NS no longer works there, they no longer have account managers (just one big pool) and apparently have no record of who the designer was.

Pretty much yea, they i dont have the tools (or all the knowledge) to this job but they keep giving it to me.

You know what...if NS hosts the site and built the site, they owe you support on the site (assuming you pay them to host it).
I'd see what you can do to open a support ticket with them. I'm sure they get Joomla questions all day long, and they can access the root accounts.

i tried talking to them again today. They dont have any of that on record and the only way they can get me the information is if i pay $60/30min of "Personal tech support"

Would the login/password be located somewhere in the ftp directory? I have access to that but dont really know what to look for.
