This is just a broad announcement to all the members here. If any of you have any family members or close friends who may have been involved in the events today my prayers are with you. This is a horrible day and I really have no idea how someone can be such a piece of shit. If you were effected in any way and want to talk or need something I think everyone here would be more then willing to help.

Terrible. What I want to know is who did this.

Reports are of a Saudi national being detained. But in the midst of this chaos I suppose anything is possible. There are some seriously fucked up people thinking that our government did this. I do not doubt in the least that it could have been an American making some fanatical statement.

I think our very own squanto has family and friends in Boston (like myself) and I hope they are OK. Mine are safe.

No family, but the friends I have from there are ok.

We were having a slow day at work, then all of a sudden all of the news serving servers got slammed. One of the senior guys made a comment about how that usually means something bad happened, and 5 minutes later CNN came up with the news.

Some people from my town here in Nova Scotia went down for the event and thankfully had crossed the finish line before this happened. Glad to hear those who had friends & family, at or taking part in this event, are ok and were unharmed by the bombings. Our thoughts go out to those who weren’t so lucky. :(

As some of you know, I also run and have competed in some local events. What has me weirded out about all of this; recently I've been putting in some extra training and have been reading about prepping for a half marathon and maybe even getting into next year’s event. As a runner, this really hit home so I've been sending out emails and making calls to local figureheads about setting up a charitable 5 or 10K run/walk with proceeds going to the Red Cross to help out with those in need. I know they could use blood donations more than anything else right now, but I'm sure anything would help. I’m hoping this can gain some momentum. Although, those in power in this town usually only organize things that benefit the local university. Chances are I'll need to put this in motion myself. We’ll see what happens, I guess.

I have a friend who finished the race 10 minutes before the bombs went off...luckily she's ok.
Her FB page lit up yesterday, it was crazy.

To get the crazies out of the way, Alex Jones insinuated it was a false flag operation and Michael Moore more or less blamed the Tea Party but was too much of a pussy to come out and say it.

My money is on foreign terrorism.

My money will stay in my wallet until facts come out. It can be just about anyone, at this point.

Maybe even someone trying to prove the point that restricting gun laws won't prevent mass casualty situations?

I have a feeling it's domestic. If it was foreign terrorism it seems like someone would have claimed responsibilty by now. This is 100% speculation on my part. I know absolutely nothing.

But Oklahoma city at least had a target that could easily be explained.
This is different I think.

Not sure why immediate judgement is passed as a white supremacist or a right with fanatical. Left wing nutjob who had some type of problem with our foreign intervention during patriot day makes as much sense as what has been stated here. I am not a republican but I just find it rather humerous you pidgeon hole an entire demagraphic

I tend to lean that way too. Foreign terrorist cells tend to enjoy bragging when they coordinate something a couple thousand miles away, but either way I'll wait for the facts.

Either way the people/groups who did this are grade a shitbags.

National news just got it shoved up their asses this afternoon. All the major national news networks were declaring that an arrest was made this afternoon. I went to go to the store, 15 minutes later they were back tracking after the feds told them that their sources were all full of shit. I hate all media...

Whether it was someone on the left or right, foreign or domestic matters little to me. Any of those people would still be a human, so as much as we might like to minimize our differences with the perpetrators (whether that is by hoping it was a foreigner, or American who does not share our personal opinions) in my opinion, we all more than likely have more in common with them than we'd like to admit. This was some person or people who are part of some community, whether it's the Boston community, the American community, or the global community, and thus, at base, could and should be called "one of us", as much as we might hate it. In fact, the perpatrator or perpatrators could very well have been motivated to do this precisely because he/she or they were made to feel like "others" apart from the community. Continuing down that road by creating more separation between us and them will never help us understand the problem, and will certainly only compund the problem and make this situation more likely in the future.

That said, I'm not sure where the above paragraph came from in the depths of my mind. And I can understand the need and want to pin this on someone or some group we feel is different from us and does not share the same values.
