Federer actually WON his match on that shot, advancing him to the US Open Final against del Potro. Del Potro managed no small feat himself, beating Rafa Nadal.

That's a ridiculous shot for a tennis player to even attempt, much less succeed with, much less WINNING with. Roger is definitely one of the top 3 players of all-time, with his legacy quickly moving him up to the best.

A lot of Tennis players at least learn that shot (though very few are good at it). There are a few situations in which it is the best option. My friend played tennis in high school and he knew what he needed to do to hit it, he just couldn't keep it in play.

That's what makes it such a ridiculous shot - overplay it and you crack yourself in the pills and launch the ball to the moon, underplay it and you bury it into the net. I'd love to see a photo of Djokovic's reaction to the shot.
