halladay, as it sounds, will pull the ole sign n trade. the yankees might land him after all, but with a starting price of hughes and chamberlain. thats two dimes for a quarter kinda trade. also, new york would part with top catching prospect jesus moreno.

i figured that it would take Joba and Hughes and some others. Moreno surprises me a bit.

Imagine the Yanks with Halladay and or Lee, there would be no need for the world series to be played, I would just give them the World series.

why? halladay is 32, verlander 26

verlander also racks up strike outs, has the best righty pick off move in the AL, and throws 102 at times. also has arguably the best breaking ball in the AL.

Most people would because Halladay is a cy-young candidate every year.

i never found myself watching a halladay game and thinking to myself "this guy is simply overpowering the batters." wonderful pitcher, but, perhaps out of bias, id rather have verlander. id rather have felix ferdnandez over anyone though.

Halliday won't overpower many, but he works at a great pace, and can spot a pitch like few others can.

That's not to say that Halliday doesn't have heat; he can still get it up there. He's just a rare pitcher that's learned to mix it up earlier in their career. A lot of people will rely on the heat and get crafty as they reach the tail end of their careers, he started that much earlier.

Having to chose between the two, I'd build a staff around Verlander based on age, but I'd plug Halliday into an existing rotation to make it disgusting.

I'm bittersweet about that. Tough to see him go, but I think it was the right time to make that move.

wait. matt holliday or roy halladay?

just heard one deal is out of the halladay sweepstakes. i guess the yankees deal wasnt taken very seriously as of yesterday. my guess is it is indeed the yankees.

edit: did some digging. the angels are the only team to put a package together, starting with joe saunders and aybar. phillies seem poised to potentially match it.

im also gathering itll be on condition of an extension.

I would have no reason to watch baseball if that happened.

more digging. halladay to yanks is a no at the moment. the yankees simply wont part with the prospects to make a serious run at halladay. sorry, adam. the angels are the clear front runner, followed by the philies and red sox.

An uneven playing field. I quit on baseball last season. Pure bullshit. :hand:

Knowing the yanks they will get both Halladay and Holliday. ;)
