phil hughes named yankees 5th starter.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring201 ... id=5027433

i think its safe to say joba chamberlain was hella over rated. he still might be a solid pitcher, but not the star he was once predicted to be.

i do think phil hughes will be a good pitcher though. a pretty damn good pitcher.

Would you be saying the same thing if the Tigers had an owner willing to spend like a madman? Doubt it.

And no, i'm not a Yankees fan.

it has nothing to do with payroll. it has everything to do with their ethics, or lack there of. i mean, hell. george steinbrenner recieved a lifetime ban from baseball because of his shit.

what lack of ethics are you talking about? out bidding every team in what is essentially an auction for free agents? considering anything less the a world series ring a failure?

****
i looked up his ban and stuff. none of it really had to do with the yankees. Georges stuff with Nixon and Winfield was stuff outside of baseball operations. yes, Winfields thing had to do with a clause in his contract about donations but it was outside of the yankees. All that shows is that George is an ass...which isnt anything new to me or anyone else.

digging up dirt on a former player to void a contract? thats pretty unethical. the yankees have always done things unethical. thats just the way they do stuff. i dont really care too much, especially about the overbidding. thats the business side of the sport. but the yankees arnt a model franchise off the field. rather the opposite.

I was so excited today to watch the Indians-White Sox game, but no it's blacked out. Grrr.

Yeah, it's dumb. Buffalo is considered the home market for the Yankees, Mets, Pirates, and Indians. That's pretty dumb considering there's no channels up here that even CARRY Indians or Pirates games. Blows up my MLB.tv viewing habits every year.
