It will be interesting this year, the Yanks are even more loaded than last year, the twins finally don't have to play in that shithole of the meterodome anymore, Cuban phenom is now with the Reds. I can't wait for baseball to start. :D

AL EAST:

boston red sox
new york yankees
tampa bay rays
baltimore orioles
toronto bluejays

AL CENTRAL:

minnesota twins
detroit tigers
kansas city royals
chicago white sox
cleveland indians

AL WEST:

seattle mariners
texas rangers
los angeles angels

WILD CARD GROUP:

new york yankees
tampa bay rays

There's absolutely no way the Red Sox finish ahead of the Yankees this year. Not a chance.

NEW YORK YANKEES! BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL BABY!

Lets compare the Yankees history with the Red Sox history. I think it's pretty obvious which franchise is better. :D

the yankees pitching staff is a good one, but not great. the sox far exceed the yankees in that category. also, the sox catchers call better games, where, and again, posada is a good catcher, but hes never been a GREAT game caller.

the yankees offense also will take a dive this up coming season. its still going to be the best in the american league, but its going to come down a peg. the yankees, red sox, and tampa bay are all interchangeable. seeing the rays win the AL east wouldnt shock me.

I don't think the Sox far exceed the Yankees in pitching.

The point you made about the Sox catching definitely helps them in that area, and yet, Posada isn't a poor game caller either. Plus, his contributions on offense are steady and regular.

The Yanks offense will drop a tad, but their defense has improved.

I don't think the Sox have the offense to stay on pace. I'm more concerned about the Rays challenging after an off year.

i agree with you, except i still think the sox pitching staff blows the yanks out of the water. they have a good rotation, and a great closer. but, the bullpen.... oof

starting rotation

SOX > YANKS

bullpen

SOX >>> YANKS

closer

SOX <= YANKS

rivera is better then papelbon, but by a slim margin.

Typical Yankee fan argument to pull the championships out, but sorry, it doesn't work on me.

I respect much of what the Yankee organization has done. Some things I think are terrible, but not all. I respect a great number of the players who have played , and currently play, for that team.

Honestly, most of my anti-Yankee comments are just mean to agitate the Yankee fans who can NEVER admit when another team just might be a lit better in a certain area. It's much fun actually!!

I tend to agree with Irony's analysis.

1-5, the Sox have a better starting rotation. Lester / Beckett / Lackey up top are fairly even compared to Sabathia / Burnett / Pettitte, although I'd have to give a SLIGHT edge to Boston here. Past that, you have Dice-K / Buchholz / Wakefield compared to.... who? They'd be well served to put Joba in there, but they're so damn bipolar with what they want to do with the kid who knows.

The rest of the bullpen is a CLEAR winner for the Sox. Rivera is the best closer ever, but Paps has been closing that gap over the last couple of years.

Offensively, the Yankees are a little better, although I could see V-Mart evening the gap in a full season in Boston.

At the end of the day, they're two of the best two teams in the AL, and are almost guaranteed to both be in the playoffs again this year.

Papelbon isn't close to Rivera. He just isn't, and he won't be. Rivera is in a league of his own.

Bull pen, obvious advantage to the Sox.

Starters, about equal.

As far as the championships go, my point is, the Yankees FRANCHISE is just better. There have been years where the Sox have had better teams, but at the end of the day, the Yankees are baseball's model franchise.

I know how much people hate that attitude, but I take enough shit as a Sabres and Bills fan. When baseball season rolls around, it's my turn to have fun cheering for the best, and I'm going to soak it up as much as I can.

papelbon is very close to mariano. mariano has been slipping for a few years. hes still great, but i think joe nathan has surpassed him as the best closer in MLB.

and best closer of all time? wheres the love for the eck? eckersly?

as far as the best franchise? yes, if were talking championships, yeah. but there have been many many corruptions within the yankees organization and its hardly a model franchise in that right.

the thing that irritates people is the yankees fans sense of entitlement to wave their collect dicks at us while repeating 20 odd some championships. how many have YOU seen? how many have YOU followed? and why is it every good yankee is "THE BEST EVER!" they had some fucking legends, for sure. i mean babe fuckin ruth. hes great. not the best ever. mantle? ditto. and fuck joe dimaggio, that crook.

its not about the money spent, but thats annoying too. its yankee fans shoving their teams history in our faces. i mean, fuck, i went to a tigers-yankees game and the yankee fans got a "1918" chant going... IN 2005! THE YEAR AFTER THE RED SOX WON A WORLD SERIES! beating them 11-2 in that game was beyond vindicating.

The Yankees are far from the model franchise. They just happen to have the most championships.

The Brewers are going to shock the NL Central this year*!

If they can pitch anything near worth a damn that is.

I'm also pumped that my baseball season is fast approaching. I'm going to keep working on that nasty circle change of mine and my batting has just skyrocketed since the start of my freshman year.
