A self-made billionaire who is the former owner of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team is preparing to bid for the Los Angeles Dodgers, making him one of the first to declare an interest in buying the storied franchise who actually has the money to pull off the transaction.

Tom Golisano says his financial resources and knowledge of the finer points of baseball make him an attractive candidate for a team that is mired in a protracted bankruptcy proceeding, though his lack of a connection to Southern California could prove problematic.

He will probably run that team further into the ground, so why not

I know he saved us. But he knew nothing about hockey, so, in turn, he was a shitty owner.

He was the first one to say that he knew nothing about hockey and wasn't much of a fan. His goal was just make it profitable so he can increase his investment... goal accomplished

It is not the job of a sports team owner to know the sport. They hire people for that. If you have issues with the people Golisano hired, that is one thing, but I haven't read anything here that would convince anyone that Golisano was a bad owner.

I think he had other goals as well. People can say he was cheap all they want, but this team was in financial ruin when he bought them. The Sabres were in bankruptcy. You don't take a bankrupt entity of any kind and start spending ridiculous amounts of money.
