I've always looked at Paterno as a model for righteous behavior in a sport (NCAA football) where morals usually go out the window. From what I read, he went to the athletic director and reported it as soon as he heard about Sandusky's abuse. That's what he's supposed to do. I don't know the timeline of when he retired in relation to Paterno's reporting to the AD. It sounds like Joe Pa could and should have been more public and forceful in his reaction, but do you think he fucked up so bad he should step down?

doesnt sound like he has that option, they are forcing him out today, from the email i got from WGR.

he did what he was supposed to, but it was minimal. he reported it, and that was it. i mean shoot, the guy has continued to go to the state college facilities, he was even there last week. he should have been disallowed A LONG TIME AGO!

its just so sad to see paternos legacy tarnished so quickly.

It is good to find humor in the unlikeliest situations.

But yeah, this is bad. I read the testimony, and I felt so dirty after reading it. You wonder if people in administration turned a blind eye to Sandusky's conduct since Penn State is a big time college football program. How much you want to bet if there was a high school football coach who also was a teacher got accused of this and administration acted? And the local police got involved as well.

I knew he'd get canned before the end of the season. It's for the best.

And the Penn State students protesting his firing look like fucking idiots.

I haven't read a whole lot on it, but I think PA state law (and maybe federal law) dictates he report things to law enforcement.

Penn State needs to clean house...this is such a nightmare for them. Maybe they shouldn't have covered up one of their own who raped young children. What did they say to him? "You shouldn't shower with the kids anymore." Fucking sick.
