Well, tonight we'll get to see what Minny plan's on doing with POS.
I am curious as t how he responds to the trade and if he can have a breakout of sorts with new scenery.

did we even have a shot? How does the waiver system work? Was Minny ahead of us in the waiver order?

Not really sure.
Does it go by current record/points or by the previous seasons?
Good question actually.

EDIT: Found this;

Waiver Priority

If more than one team puts in a claim on a player during the waiver period, then the team with the higher waiver priority's claim is accepted.

If the claim is before November 1, waiver priority is based on the previous year's standings, with the team with the worst record having first priority and the team with the best record having last priority.

If the claim is after November 1, waiver priority is based on the current year's standings, defined as the lowest percentage of possible points. Toronto currently has 2nd priority on all waiver transactions.

So, Minny is ahead of Buffalo in percentage of possible points so ya, I would think Buffalo had the opportunity over Minny. Anyone care to confirm if this is indeed, correct?

Yes, Buffalo was ahead of Minnesota in waiver priority.

No, Buffalo was not interested in this guy.

The Wild picked him up because they have a rash of injuries down the middle, and not a ton of AHL depth to cover it.

Buffalo has the AHL depth to cover their injuries. Minnesota has long term issues down the middle.

I know that you assume that every player in the league that doesn't play in Buffalo is an upgrade over what we have, but this guy is not.

Really?
Cause it showed on the 1st goal Pitt scored. Luke Adam didn't look NHL ready on that one, did he now?
He needs the full season in the A. He's not ready yet.

As for O'Sullivan compared to Adam, its Apples to Oranges. O'Sullivan has a 53 point season under his belt while he's played in the NHL, and while this is only a portion of his time in the league, Luke Adam has 0 points in 2 going on 3 games now.

There is a difference here, but I won't say Adam will not "BE" better than O'Sullivan, I was merely looking at him for Center depth for the club. Obviously, it couldn't hurt if we picked him up.

Adam doesn't look special. He doesn't look good. At all. IMO.

Don't look now, but Patrick O'Sullivan scored in his first game as a Wild.
Now, I wonder what that one goal could have done for the Sabres tonight?
Hmmmmmm.................................

He has played the wings in his career, but his natural position is and always has been center, according to multiple articles/team websites I've read.
Like I said Phil, I wasn't even aware of who the guy was on any serious scale, but it looks like he potted 92 points in the AHL after he was drafted then traded.
I don't know much about is family life thing that happened to him, I just looked at him for 600k as Center depth that could help garner a few more goals than what Connolly is putting out.
We'll never know if he would have fit in here or not, but a change is so needed on this team, anything that cheap (600k pro-rated) would have been better than doing absolutely nothing to shake things up, which, is what Darcy has done so far.

His dad ruined him, there was an article about it and he was always afraid of his dad at his hockey games.

Check the thread from when he signed with Carolina it's in there and it's such a sad story that it had to happen to a guy with so much promise.

easy there. weve passed the point where a slow start is becoming a bad season. if we want to go somewhere, standing still isnt the best option at this point.

Exactly irony.
I have run out of patience with Regier and his same old cliche lines. It hasn't done it for me for quite some time now, but this season I actually expected a different line up to some extent. 2 or 3 moves as I stated.

It's just down right frustrating to me that I am watching this team past the quarter season mark continue to struggle to pot goals and it's maddening that Regier does nothing, takes no action what so ever to attempt to change that. :snooty:

If Regier doesn't make a move, he's a bad GM.

If Regier does make a move, he made a bad one, and he's a bad GM.

Mock if you wish, but 2 points in 2 games is more than over 3/4 of our forward roster gets in 6 or 7 games.
OMGZ, SLESH MAKES A POINT, WE DON'T HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF CONTRIBUTING SCORERS ON THIS TEAM THAT HAVE ANYTHING REMOTELY RESEMBLING CONSISTENCY. HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN ON TO SOMETHING HERE!!!!!!!

You weren't on to anything. You knew nothing about the player, let along being able to form a reasonable opinion why he would help the Sabres.

You say Tomatoe, I say Tomatoe.

If Regier doesn't attempt to address this teams short comings he's a bad GM.

If Regier does make an attempt to address this teams short comings and fails. Well, atleast he tried to do something.

Isn't that more to the point Squanto?

Admittedly so, but then, I looked merely at his stats and what some articles written on him were.
Doesn't appear to have been a bad pick up for the Wild so far.
Comes back to the same old question, would he have been a contributor here in Buffalo?
Once again, we'll never know but, a move to attempt to improve the situation here in Buffalo is better then accepting the "have patience" routine over a quarter into the regular season schedule.
