The uniforms are blue and white, and I hate to say it, but the striping is awfully derivative of the Detroit Red Wings'. It's understandable as it's a classic look but it's the one spot where the new brand fails to meet its goal of individuality and being unique. Outside of that, it's a traditional look that stands apart.

Kinda like a mix/mash of the Wings and leafs...

Thoughts?

I don't mind it. I like the shoulder patch.

I like the shoulder patch, but the rest of the uniform makes them look like a generic, user-created NHL11 team...

Would be a million times better if the logo at the center was different

I don't like the home ones, but the road Jerseys are nice.

Even though it is yet another round "Vintage" logo, I do like the shoulders. The front logo looks like something you'd see on the movie The Incredibles. Or a warning sign. Or something.

Shoulder patch feels classic, legit
Ties are always cool

Con:
Bland, derivative
Loss of black and silver feels like the loss of the Bolts' long-standing visual identity
Crest looks like Flash Gordon got mugged. BOLTS! Ah-AHHH!
Boring to tears

Bottom Line:
Let Stevie Y run hockey ops, but keep him away from marketing and design. Jersey sucks.

Yzerman has to go down as one of the classiest players in history. If it wasn't for the damage to his knees, he may have been able to get in another 2 years or so, IMO. When he retired, it just seemed weird without him in Detroit.

Many have worn it before him, but to see another player wearing the C in a Wings jersey just looks wrong. To see him with Tampa’s front office is just as weird, but good on him that he stayed with the game. He’ll do a great job for the Bolts.

Not disputing any of that, but these new Bolts sweaters are a shitty knockoff of the classic jerseys he wore as a player.

Phil do we know for sure that Stevie was the designer of these. I imagine the marketing department would have been the people to design these jerseys with Stevie just giving his approval.

whats odd is lidstrom is a great captain, and hes beloved. but hes not yzerman. yzerman was an icon in detroit.

Image

though, hes not the first athlete to get the mural treatment in downtown.

the good ole days.

lol @ the Flash Gordon reference! Totally agree man. That would have been like Gretzky going to LA and wanting them to design the Kings jerseys as close as possible to the Oilers. I think the Bolts could have come up with something a little more, them?

Like I mentioned in the first post, it's like a mash of the Leafs and the Wings. The Tampa Bay Maple Wings?

I don't like the color. Too similar to the leafs. The Bolts should be silver or yellow.

It's been strongly implied by people I trust.

These jerseys don't suck, they don't rule. Calling out Stevie for these is kind of.... Stupid. They aren't ugly, they're generic.

They look like the leafs jersey but they aren't that bad.
