I think the biggest problem with the whole WC situation is that though the idea is cool, the conditions make for some really sloppy, slower, and overall boring hockey. Who wants to watch the refs stop every whistle to try and fix the ice? We've seen places like Boston and Pittsburgh with above freezing temperatures. I think from now on, there should only be five teams that can host an outdoor game: Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton. The other places aren't consistently cold enough.

michigan stadium. if you are going to have a hockey game in a football stadium, might as well be the biggest football stadium there is.

in case you are wondering about michigan and outdoor hockey. the michigan wolverines are playing the ohio state buckeyes at progressive field in cleveland right now. thats where the indians play. 3rd straight year with an outdoor game for UM.

I would love for the WC to be played in Michigan Stadium(is that what it's called Mike?) or any football stadium for that metter. It looks way better than at a baseball field. However Ilitch owns the Red Wings and Tigers so if Detroit is awarded the WC it would be held at Comerica park so he gets all the revenue from ticket sales. Where as if it were at Michigan Stadium he would have to split the revenue with whoever owns that.

You don't think they'd try to break the attendance record?

Looks like Mike is going to have to brave the elements next Jan. The NHL is making it official tomorrow.
